Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland is sticking to his plan.
For the second straight day, Cleveland will trot out a right-handed starting pitcher.
So, for the second consecutive game, second baseman Omar Infante will bat ninth.
Leyland told reporters Tuesday that he will likely continue to bat Infante ninth against right-handed pitchers and move him to No. 2 in the lineup against left-handers.
So far, that hasn't changed.
Right-hander Zach McAllister is expected to start for Cleveland on Thursday and the Blue Jays are scheduled to start righties the first two games of Detroit's three-game series in Toronto. That means Infante could seemingly bat ninth in his first five games with Detroit.
But, back to tonight.
Right-hander Derek Lowe will take the mound for the Indians and he'll start opposite right-hander Max Scherzer, who is 4-1 with a 2.80 ERA over his last seven starts.
Leyland will use the same lineup he used Tuesday night, but will hope for better results as the Tigers fell to the Indians, 3-2, to snap a five-game win streak and fall into a two-way tie atop the AL Central alongside the Chicago White Sox.
