3 questions, as I have not followed the Tigers in quite some time.

Prior to this May-June...when was the last time the Tigers had back to back +.500 months?

Thoughts on how many years Cabrera has left in the tank? He has dropped off a little this year, but is still effective. Does he have another 1, 2, maybe even 3 years left in his body?

The season now is half over. Baddoo has 10 stolen bases. Apparently no Tiger has stolen 20 bases in one season since...I think I heard 2012...are the Tigers finally attempting to add more speed to the team? I personally prefer speed over power as speed helps on both offense and defense, and I would like to see them have at least 3 players capable of stealing 20+ bases in a season. Or has the issue been the Tigers being too conservative and not taking the risk, counting on home runs to bring runners in as opposed to quality base running mindset?

Thanks for the feedback. I've been hopeful all year that they finish above .500 for the year. Hoping their confidence is growing and can make that happen.

2016 = Every month except May was over .500.

Anthony Gose in 2015 was the last Tiger to steal 20 bases. Hardly an example of what speed can do. In 2014, it was Rajai Davis. Again, speed but nothing else. Next was Quentin Berry in 2012. Another fine example.

The last time two Tigers stole 20 bases or more in a season was 2007. Granderson and Sheffield.

In 2001 (66-96), DET had three players with 20 or more. Cedeno 55, Macias 21 and Higginson 20.

It is EXACTLY the halfway mark. Would need to go 46-35 for the second half; that would be .575.

July will be key.

25 of the next 28 games are against sub .500 teams. All with worse records than DET. I am betting they go 17-11 or better during this stretch, as 15 games are at home.

Granted, August will be a very, very difficult month/schedule. September is pretty balanced.

I doubt they finish the year close to .500, but in July, they may come close.

His money will dictate how many years he has left in in his body. Though he did have a good June.

Also, Mize and Subal will probably get shut down towards the end of the year. Losing your best two pitchers is also going to bring them down. My guess is they finish about 10 games under .500

There is no way the union allows him to retire.

A contract is an agreement between two parties. There is zero fault on Cabrera signing the contract or finishing it out. I am certain teams will not change the salary for someone who performs better than they get paid. Conversely, they shouldn't hold back if they underperform. Get over it.

get over what? I never said that Miggy shouldn't take every penny they signed him for. I would take it too.

But you are wrong. The player's union would have no say in the matter. Gill Meche retired leaving $11M on the table and Ryan Sanberg did the same in 1994 leaving $16M. Miggy would be stupid to leave that much on the table...but he could do it if he wanted.

Since yesterday was Bobby Bonilla day the Tigers could do one of those deals.. Lol.

Max Scherzer will be a free agent after this season. From 2022-2028 he will make $15M per year from the Nationals. He may sign another deal with another team...my guess is he could get a 2 year $30M contract from somebody.
