Tigers vs. orioles Game Thread September 25

Tigers 3rd inning,

Inge takes outside, again, fastball high, outside for a walk,

Jackson changeup ground foul past third, strike call at the knees, fastball high, swings and misses a f'n changeup,

Magglio curve is outside, line drive single over second and Inge to third,
Maggs now with a 17 game hitting streak .377

Young takes outside and ump says strike, fastball fouled back, changeup in the dirt blocked, swings at a low curve ground foul, fastball way high, fastball outside full count, grounder deep in the hole at short stopped but gets up and drops it before the throw Inge scores on the single and all safe,

Tigers lead 3 - 0,

Cabrera takes outside called a strike, fastball outside, curve in the dirt blocked, fastball outside, again for a walk and bases are loaded,

Martinez and he first pitch grounds into a double play, totally unexpected from Victor,

matusz with 46 pitches,

Tigers lead 3 - 0.

Bases loaded on a Miggy BB, still one out..Lions starting to move the ball upfield on the Vikes in the second quarter...

VMart GIDPs and kills the rally, meh...

Lions misfiring on offense, can't get close enough to attempt a FG on their last possession, b/c of damned penalties and the Vikes D.

Harvin runs the football deep into Lions territory...Yikes!!

Penny is awesome and he has that big game experience, too, I sure hope Leyland uses him in the rotation in the postseason....

O's get their first RISP of the game, Andino steals second, one out in the top of 4th. Vikings now in the Lions' redzone...sigh..

Penny 4th inning,

angul grounds out to Cabrera,

andino slider on/off the corner not a called strike for Penny, fouls it off of Avila and here comes Rand and Leyland to check him out, replay shows it hit him in the nuts, fastball low, low, ground foul, low walks,

davis takes 1 and 1, runner steals second, f'n pitch inside corner not a strike, f these umps, one hop to Peralta runner on second caught in a rundown and tagged out, runner on first,

vlad chasing pitches low and away, ground to Peralta,

Penny with 58 pitches,

Tigers lead 3 - 0.

Penny keeps the O's off the scoreboard on two forceouts to SS.

Megatron's attempt on a TD catch is foiled...bah!!

Ain't looking good for the Lions, who are looking like I thought the Vikings would instead this afternoon.

No, but I'm gonna be getting drunk here in a little bit.

I was being tongue in cheek, in the "What should the post season rotation be?" threads most posters on this board - all who posted in fact -were pretty down on Penny, and specifically hoped that Leyland wouldn't use him in the post season just because of his experience, so I was making a little joke on that.

That said, after Verlander all the Tiger starters are pretty hit or miss in my book, and when they're on the posters here say they're the next best thing to an Angelina Jolie BJ, and when they're off the posters here say they're the suckiest thing that ever walked.

I'd say after Fister it's hit or miss.

Tigers 4th inning,

Avila swings and foul tips, curve low, fastball in fouled back, changeup in is popped to short,

Peralta takes low, again, fastball high, again for a walk,

Raburn bunts it foul down third, changeup high, fastball strike call, called out on strikes high off the corner,

Inge takes a strike inside, big swing and miss with eyes closed, lucky on the corner with this ump calling that pitch a strike, changeup low and catcher lifts the glove a foot, doesn't matter Inge Cringes,

matusz with 62 pitches,

Tigers lead 3 - 0.

Yes, Fister has been the most consistently good of the rest, or maybe I should say the least hit or miss, so it makes sense he would be #2.

So of the other three, who is least likely to suck on any given day?
