Tigers vs. pirates Game Thread June 22

it's not but he's the manager that's where complaints go, to the manager. BB was hitting .429 off burrnet and .325 on the road so he benched him and played young instead. I don't get it.

7 PAs vs Burnett, hard to make a strong case, especially with the way Boesch has been hitting all season.

.325/.369/.483/.853 BB on the road is 39/120 . with 10 doubles 3 homers and 11 rbi's...Only place BB is hitting is on the road... He bats left and Burnett is a RHP...

But Jim had his reasons...

tribe still up 1-0 in the top of the 8th, and now the Sox have a chance to win in the 9th in a 0-0 game... Both Sale and Zack G were dealing...

Strong as it needs to be considering the alternative, " hacken fool young" He out manages himself, over thinks things at times, keep it simple stupid, all I ask..

LOL...You remembered!!!!! NICE!!!...To bad we have a manager that gives away games on a regular basis but tonight it is all on the hoes traveling with the team!!!!! To much mile high club on the way to Pittsburgh!!!!

Ha ha... it's a long campaign...the majority of division winners, and certainly almost surely both of the wild card qualifiers, are going to lose more than four out of every ten games they play...

It's always been called a game of inches. I think it's more like, "a game of margins..."

He was probably going off recent play then.

Boesch was 4 for his last 26 going into the game (all singles) and barely drawing walks whereas Delmon had an 8 game hitting streak that ended yesterday.

Delmon was 1-for-3 tonight against Burnett, I fail to see how Boesch would've done any better.

BB is better on the road by far this year....Numbers are above...Only place he hits...This year.... I think he sees the ball better on the road...Did you see his walk!!!!!!!

Young verses a RHB this year, and even though he is hitting .308 his last seven games his OBP is only also .308 over that stretch... Both are really having a sub-par season... But Young should have been benched and BB the lefty should have played tonight.

.237/.281/.333/.615

I guess I just have a problem with the reliability of away splits. They're useful in showing the advantage of certain parks like Coors field, but considering the Tigers as a team are roughly equal between home and away (away has a tiny edge), the good away splits just seem a bit fluky...not to mention his career splits show him hitting better at home.

But not this year... it is not even close... But i see what you are saying...We need to get BB going...He has more of a future with Detroit then
Young does... I really don't think Young will be resigned next season..

I see what you're saying, but I just feel all this talk is pointless since I doubt it changes the outcome of the game. Both are bad hitters and substituting one for the other isn't going to do much.

The only problem I would have is if they're playing Delmon over someone else because of how much he's making.

Boesch doesn't have much of a future in Detroit himself.

Maybe but Detroit has more things to worry about than Brennan Boesch.
