For all those Tigers fans who kept wanting Miguel Cabrera to bat third, you get your wish. With Delmon Young out, Jim Leyland opts to move the middle of his lineup up a spot rather to slide Magglio Ordonez back to his old home in the 3-hole. That means Cabrera bats third for the first time since Interleague Play.
Leyland has always entertained the discussion over where Cabrera best fits, but his reasoning for cleanup has always been to try to get as many runners on as possible in front of him. Better to risk him not batting in the opening inning, the argument went, than to have him come up with two out and nobody on in the first.
from Jason Beck

Cabrera batted 3rd just one time this year (6-17 at COL). Also batted 3rd for a few weeks in 2009.

Yes Miguel batting third.... I am very excited about that...

Jim could try and bat the whole team in front of him to try and get runners on, but best to having them hit above the Mendoza line.

happy with the line up...ordonez could easily end up being the hero or the goat (was going to put arod here) tonight. Either way, the bats need to wake the fuck up. Offense has been pathedic.

Verlander - 1 Start - 0-1 - 2.00 ERA - 9.0 IP - 6 Hit - 2 ER - 4/1 K/BB

He is 6-2 with a 2.61 ERA in nine starts versus the Rangers, and owns the best ERA among active pitchers against the team (min. 5 starts). Verlander has been nearly perfect in Arlington, going 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 21 innings.

No Young this series :-( Steady dose of Raburn in his place looks like.. well let's hope for the best.

Leyland: "With Delmon out, it changes things".
Leyland on loss of Delmon: "That's why you play your guys all year long. That's why you use your whole roster".
Leyland said Delmon was "swinging real good" in BP yesterday, but then stiffened up and couldn't raise arm.
Leyland: "I've never seen an oblique be right in a day or 2. When you mention oblique, I get nervous".
Leyland: "Does it hurt w/o Delmon? Sure. Will we go on? Yes".

The Most Interesting Manager In The World.

Jackson and Raburn are not Whitaker and Trammell, but they better do a seriously good imitation of them.

Ok Boy's.... I am heading over to my dad's house to watch the games....At 85 he is having a surgery on his leg this tuesday and I am a tad worried about it... So anyway I will be taking all my whammy's with me over to his house except my cat's. Have to save them for Sunday's games... All my bat's, hats, shirts, and anything i can think of is going with me... I like to drive my pop's crazy and we have fun watching the games... I hope the Wolverines get a huge lead but I hope behind Verlander we can get a win.... Losing Young is a huge loss but Raburn, Kelly, and Dirks will have to step up... I like Miguel batting third and I hope it works.... Anyway take care everyone and I will be back after the game...... Tigers!, Tigers!, Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks KC.... Great move by the Tigers.... Now he may be abole to come back if we beat the rangers for the World series...

Any chance at all Boesch would be available for WS?

They put him on the reserve list I believe.

MLB network just showed the top 5 team payrolls for 2011.. none of them are still playing.

gotta love it.

Skies look good around ballpark. Radar shows storms west. After what happened to Tigers in Game 1 last series, this could get interesting.
nobody needs another 1 1/2 inning game.
