Tigers' Delmon Young back to replace injured Ordonez.
Initially left off roster, ailing outfielder could be able to pinch-hit.
from the Tigers official site

Delmon Young this morning was added to the Tigers

Leyland actually has 2 lineup's prepared for today. One with Young in the lineup and one without depending how he looks and feels after pregame.

Jim Leyland says he has two lineups ready for this game. He has released the one that has Delmon Young in it. He

I wonder how they determine that he was injured enough to get left off roster only to be back on 3 days later? They need new medical people.

They are probably grasping at straws and think Young is the best option before any player on/off the 40 man, Clete Thomas or similar.
Will he be able to throw from left field or swing as hard as he does without straining and reinjuring the left oblique, that is the question I ask.

It would be a shame if Young reinjures himself when he is close to being ready but tries too soon. I know we really need his bat but I have a hard time believing that he won't aggravate the injury. On the other hand, this really is a must win game. It would be next to impossible to win 4 out of 5 from Texas. I hope he plays, plays well, and the Tigers win.

Joel Zumaya to deliver ball to mound for Game 3 on Tuesday night at Comerica - Darrell Evans will throw it as the ceremonial pitch - Aretha Franklin will sing the National Anthem.

Mitch[/color]]Zumaya, he coming back ever again? I hope so.

Just a hunch, I think the Tigers have him at spring training and see what he can do, unless he has a setback before then. Would be perfect imo to have him with Al Al every other day in the 7th inning if need be.

Tigers hitting coach McClendon: Delmon Young was fine swinging in cage, plans to take batting practice.

Delmon done taking BP. Playing catch in OF with VMart.

other BP news: Miguel Cabrera taking some grounders at 3B again.

and from Rod Allen, Brilliant move by Detroit to bring DY back. He is 6-12 vs tonight's starter with 2 Big Flys. Just his presence will cause Holland stress.

Miggy is going to have to have a huge series from here on out if the Tigers advance. Hoping to see the Miggy of the last 3 weeks of the regular season.

Tigers trainer Kevin Rand says Delmon Young is set to start. Main question with injury is throwing, and he did that fine today.

Delmon swinging better as rounds progress. Homer, a couple off the wall. Doubt he's 100%, but good to go.

Tigers trainer on Young: "Swinging is not an issue".

Miguel Cabrera swats five homers in five swings during BP. He smiles and says, "Watch the show".
Miggy said "it's a show. Watch the show", jokingly to reporters as he came out of batting cage to an ovation from the crowd after moon shots.

The scary part is that if he reinjures it and has to be replaced, he can't play in the WS if they advance

Really getting tired of Ramon.

I know he's gotta play from here, but bat him at the bottom of the order.

Tigers had Clete Thomas report to instructional league, in case they get another OF injury. Also, Carlos Guillen will play in IL game today.

As for the other outfielder in the Tigers' traveling party, 76-year-old Al Kaline said: "I can't remember the last time I swung a bat."

Tigers said Delmon was feeling better Sunday, but there was "zero chance" he could have played if game went as scheduled Sunday night.

Tigers hitting coach Lloyd McClendon gave thumbs-up on Delmon's round. "Ready to go," he said.

Carlos Guillen is a possibility if Tigers advance to WS. Brennan Boesch is not.
