Tigers - rangers Game Preview.

Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland told reporters Tuesday that he planned to sit catcher Alex Avila today in an effort to keep him fresh for Thursday.
Change of plans, apparently.
Avila is back in the lineup, batting sixth and starting behind the plate in the Detroit Tigers' series finale against the AL West-leading Texas Rangers.
It's the second straight game for Avila, who underwent an MRI early Monday after suffering from reoccurring pain in his left knee.
The results suggested Avila suffered from tendinitis -- the same diagnosis he received last season and Leyland suggested Avila might see less playing time behind the plate from here on out.
It's unclear if Avila will start the club's series opener Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Avila will catch right-hander Doug Fister, who will square off against the Rangers for the first time since winning Game 3 of last year's American League championship series.
The Rangers will counter with right-hander Roy Oswalt. Targeted by the Detroit Tigers this past offseason, Oswalt elected to pass on Detroit's reported offer. He eventually signed a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers on May 29 and he made his debut Friday.
The 34-year-old Oswalt gave up up one run with six strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a 4-1 home win over Colorado.
Brennan Boesch is starting in right field and batting eighth and Ryan Raburn will make his first start since Sunday, starting at second base and batting ninth.
