Tigers vs. redsox Game Thread April 8

My guess would be he may have been asking if they were going to review it, real time it was hard to tell if it cleared or not.

Yeah, I thought that but when the call goes in your favor you don't challenge it.

Valentine seemed to not challenge it either so I doubt that was it.

Incredible game and incredible win!!!!

This team is loaded and ready for special things.

Hey now, that's a primary reason why there are no serious holes right now!. LOL. I hear Laird is getting a start on Tuesday though. ;-)

Good, the one thing we don't want is an overworked Avila.

Just need someone like BB, Raburn or DY to step up a bit more when Avila sits.

Tigers are far from done playing the whinersox from boston...
4 game series at fenway May 28 - May 31,
3 game series at fenway July 30 - Aug. 1.
Seems unfair and a messed up unbalanced schedule, playing 3 in Detroit and 7 in boston.

Sure does. I wanted to see us squash them this season but its over now.

Best thing about reading this thread is to read about all the guys who watched this with their dads. I was at my folks for Easter and watched through the 9th with my dad, we went nuts when Cabrera tied it, wow, I was listening to it and driving home when Avila ended it, got a call from my dad about 2 minutes later. Just an incredible game and this team looks amazing!

Miguel Cabrera is going to have a monster year, he's seeing pitches every AB that he wouldn't see last year. This team is special.

I agree with your last sentence mostly, but Cabrera had great protection last year too, let's not forget what Vmart helped him do in 2011.

Also, while I love Prince, Cabrera is still going to get a number of IBB's this year, because facing Prince, is way less scary than facing Miguel.

Didn't Joe Maddon say last year that he does not care who hits behind Cabrera, he's not going to let Miguel beat them.

It's not about the numbers VMart had, but the fastballs Miguel is now getting. And that is because of Prince. Power scares more than a base hit.

Eh, I disagree.

Prince is more likely to hit one over the fence, but Vmart is much more likely to put the ball in play, both are nothing to look forwards too.

I was just saying it's not like Cabrera never had protection till Prince showed up, he did.

And I meant Miguels numbers, not Victors.

We'll have to see if he actually gets more fastball like you said, hard to base it off 3 games where 2 of them had pitchers who could not locate well.

And Victor will be the full time DH next year... Man if his knee heals we will be talking about the motor City murder row next year... Holy crap look at it this year so far...

Maybe an outside shot he could go in the playoffs?

That would be nice... Hope they don't rush him though but knowing Victor he will try and play.. Man can you imagine him batting behind Prince.

Yup I agree...My 84 year old dad was going crazy...He has trouble moving around and he was yelling i can't get up he wanted to high five me and all the grand kids who were watching. I mean we all knew it was gone the moment it left the bat and i stood up and my nephews stood up..Just a natural reaction... Well my pop's tried but we all had to go to him to high five with him.. Both of his legs are shot and he almost lost one a few months back but the Doc saved him and the leg for the time being.. Just a great moment when MC hit that blast... I called him up later after AA hit his bomb and he was still watching and very excited... What a game...

Its all about OBP and Prince is king over Martinez. Prince is a better bat behind Miguel over Martinez. Better OBP, Power and a .300 hitter himself. And don't overlook the benefit of more fastballs. Miguel could even get better..

Through 3 games, Cabrera is seeing less fastballs than any other season in his career.

Too early to think any measurement of Fielder will be a permanent one. The AL will be adjusting to Fielder's bat for months. Our best measuring stick will be watching Prince adjust to rival team adjustments.

Then we will find out just how good Prince's bat really is. I'm already impressed thou. I love the way he covers the entire field. For such a big-body, he's got quick reaction-time and a nice contact-eye for reading pitches.
