Before tonight, I was not all that optimistic he would win the triple crown, guys right on his heels in BA and tied with Hamilton in HRs and a couple other guys right there, but now I give him a 75% chance, he's a couple hits of winning wrapping up the batting title, and he may not have to hit another HR, but certainly 1 more would make it very very likely.

Mauer is 1-5 tonight and dropped his BA to .322. Cabrera could go 0-8 from here on out and Mauer would still have to raise his BA to win the batting title. RBI title is in the bag, it's HRs now, if Hamilton or Encarnacion have a strong finish he may need to hit another 1 or 2.

This is such a huge story! If it were in NY or Boston it would be leading the nightly news every night, not the sports, but the actual nightly news.
