Tigers vs. Royals May 12, 2021 Game 36

I recall back when we were still on ESPN....we would poke fun @ our division rivals' putrid game threads, that often would just suddenly end when their teams were losing. Or days would go by w/o any game thread even being started. What goes around....

Seeking a reality check confirmation did the tigers just actually win two games in a row? Is that actually possible?

Tigers win their third game in a row for only the second time this season. The other being a sweep @ astros. They have also won only their third series of the season. (2 home 1 road)

Going for a sweep vs the slumping royals tomorrow afternoon, who have now lost 10 in a row. Tigers have only lost @ most 5 in a row, but have done so 3x this season.

It?s just not the same anymore. I just can?t explain it other the they don?t win many games anymore. Houston series was fun then reality hit that this organization is just a long way away from contending.

KalineCountry spends some of his personal time creating our game threads for almost every game in a season.

If no one wants to comment, b/c the team stinks, then why should he bother?

Same reason for the Red Wings & Pistons threads.. Because that's what we do. Bob said it best, tough to watch this team but we still want to know how they did.

NHL and NBA are ~half as many games per season as MLB, both forums game threads have never had anywhere near the activity level of Tigers/Lions/Wolverines game threads....and contain as much info as will doing a quick cursory search online offers.

Not the point. Bob still creates Pistons threads and Bob, Polish and I do Wings threads. Just for nostalgia its worth doing. Because someone even if just a couple want to find the results its worth doing.

Its like those note threads that KC does, there might not be another poster who comments in there for days or the Miggy thread by Tiger. but it doesn't mean we don't read them.

Wasn't referring to any extraneous topics contained within any DSF sports forum, but only game threads in particular. The Pistons and Red Wings games threads most often contain only 2-3 posts....@ best. But were this the mid-90s for the Red Wings, or late 80s-early 90s or early 00s for the Pistons, and DSF had just started up in each case...then I am pretty sure that those forums and their game threads would be much more active.

But DSF began when the contender Tigers started their 5 year postseason run from '11-'14. Which was why this forum had a good start.

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

I remember those espn game threads and we had posters from other teams just wanting to hang out and comment with us too. Yes some just trolled but others were there for enjoyment.
It is true though back then the Tigers were Contenders and in the world series even if they blew it vs. the cardinals and giants, now the team sucks because of Chris Ilitch Al Avila and the incompetent front office but we still look because we are fans and the team is in our DNA after all these years.

Not as popular as football or baseball. Plus they're not competing for playoff spots as you said. Regardless I'm going to still post in the Wings one because I like Hockey very much. Just like all the other thread starters.

WOULD YOU RATHER?.?
Totally Tigers

Have you ever played the game Would You Rather?..?

You?re given 2 choices. There is a dilemma to be solved and you must determine which side of the coin you prefer. Your mission? You must choose only one.
Each week, we will offer you a new choice to consider. Please vote on your selection, explain your decision should you desire and then come back throughout the day to see where other fans stand. At the end of the day, check to see which option won.
Let?s kick this off!

It?s been a struggle watching the Tigers play baseball. But what do you think of our TV broadcast team? If you consider the performance of the previous crew (Rod and Mario), is there something missing?

Would you rather?.

1. Less talking

2. More information / game analysis

Tigers were the first (and always) in line for me beginning in '67 when I was 10 years old...although I do still remember, albeit vaguely, the '61 Tigers esp Colavito and Kaline. But '67 was the first season when I followed the team during most of their games.

The '68 Tigers might not have been the best Tigers team ever, but they will always be my #1 favorite, even though the '84 team fielded most of my peers, age wise. The celebration that took place outdoors in the city of Detroit on the early October afternoon after the Tigers won the WS was absolutely incredible, and I will never witness anything like it ever again, even if the Lions were to finally play in and win a SB.

The '21 Tigers may stink all season, and they might even lose 110 games + again for the third time in their history, but despite the owner and FO fielding this poorly constructed team, I intend to root for them in every game, winning or losing.

I don't usually post during games, because I don't watch or I'm not at my computer. Every morning I go straight to ESPN.com and the first thing I do is check the box score. After reading all headlines to see if there is something going on worth while, I open DFS and read the game thread. I may or may not post a comment, but I do enjoy them over a cup of Joe

So it appears that Jake Rogers had a career day. With the exception of Kenny, athletes named Rogers (Rodgers) in Detroit have not had much to celebrate over the years.

I liked Rod and Mario but the new group is ok. I like Gibby a lot. Morris, Perry and Monroe are ok to.

Less talking and posturing. Matt Shepard, IMO, is not a baseball announcer. His delivery offers little spontaneity, and it's a mite overblown. His phrases are just ... odd.
