Tiger lose second game in a row and the series as well.

Can't sit on two measly runs scored early in a road game.

When Grayson comes of the IL. Tigers should consider DFA Wilson Ramos, can't hit and is a subpar pitch-framer & defender.

When you leave the bases jammed and do not score it is a matter of time that the other team will and they lose again.
Last night iirc 3 for 15 risp, today 2 for 11.

Id cut Greiner before Ramos. Greiner is terrible at everything. Ramos has at least hit decent during most of his career.

That being said, I'd keep Haase and Rogers over both of them.

Royals 3 - Tigers 2: Fulmer blows his first save to spoil a fine Mize outing.
Casey Mize was great, but poor defense and a walkoff homer doomed them.

Stat of the day:

May 23: Royals 3 - Tigers 2 -- Mize sharp during streak.
Casey Mize allowed a run on three hits over 6 1/3 innings but took a no-decision. The rookie has pitched at least six innings and allowed four hits or fewer in each of his past five starts, tied for the longest such streak in team history.
Michael Fulmer last accomplished it May 21-June 12, 2016.
Max Scherzer ran off two such streaks, from May 21-June 11, 2013, and July 22-Aug. 13, 2013.
Mickey Lolich did it Aug. 12-Sept. 5, 1964.

Look like a star one day and a bum the next. Oh well Fulmer has pitched well. It didn't effect the game but why did Mize get pulled after 86 pitches? I missed the game since I had golf on.

Someone mentioned on BYB that @ the average amount of IP per game by the rookie Mize will force the Tigers to shelve him @ some point during the second half of the season. If Mize will get more NDs this season b/c he pitches gems, while the Tigers oft-anemic lineup and failpen let him down, maybe Hinch could try a starter for the first 3 innings, then have Mize start the 4th and pitch the rest of the game. At least by then the staff and lineup will know close to about how many runs will need to be scored to win the game (or not and lose it). Also Hinch could further limit Mize's season IP by relieving him in the 8th and/or 9th with a setup/closer (or mop-up) when the game's outcome is in lesser doubt.

at some point before the season they had talked about a 6 man rotation which would help

Just took a look at the 6 Tigers pitching prospects' stats who are among their/MLB's top 100 ranked overall. None have a WHIP that is lower than 1.31 (#23 Beau Burrows) next is 1.42 (#3 Matt Manning) the worst is 2.40 (#29 Keider Montero). Not going to include #26 Alex Lange, b/c his WHIP was mostly a result of pitching in relief in the majors. Still too early so I hope that their stats will improve with more IP by summer.

I give a half pass so far since they couldn't play last season. That's a long time for young players..

Jones has been a disappointment really though he'd take that step forward this year.

Castro is the bigger disappointment to me. Even despite the defensive issues he is not doing well at all at the plate.

Paredes is also struggling in Toledo. Detroit is just not developing offense whatsoever.

The infield is a great big ? after Candy going forward.
