Tigers lose to Royals, ending season (probably): Game recap, box score.

With the Tigers season-ending loss and the red sux likely win (leading 9-1 bottom 9th over braves) the Tigers move up to the 3rd pick in next year's draft by pct points, red sux finish 24-36 .400 and the Tigers 23-35 .397.

And that's a wrap folks. Hopefully some improvements can be made during the offseason, because they have a lot of holes to fill.

Yes please get a new GM and move the Tigers into the modern age.

Is the season over yet?

Yes.

It just ended today.

I can?t believe the baseball season is actually really over.

It seems like it only just started.

It flew by so fast.

That?s what happens when you get older, I guess.

Whole new management team is needed IMO. As today line up, looked to much like a Leyland Sunday lineup. The house needs repaired starting at the roof on down. A full clean sweep out is needed IMO. No body listen to me so that's not going to happen. but....

Should I take on this managers job. I would require being the GM as well. With the right to trade anyone that could get a reasonable return. A 100 to 150 mill salary for the team. Name my own coaching staff a must! That way your hands would not look tied. And keep the lips shut as to what you are trying to do.

Done season over not looking good for the kittens! IMO

What about the broadcast crew, Dan and Jim Price?

Especially Jim Price?

Don’t get me wrong, he was good enough to be a back up in the big leagues, which is way better than any of us are but when I hear him on the XM radio broadcasts, he’s sounds like he was some big shit - He was Bill Freehan’s back up catcher.

He arguably backed up the best catcher of the era who should be in the HOF, but nevertheless, himself just the back up catcher.

I heard him say something on the broadcast today about playing first base for a catcher is like taking a day off - how would he know? According to his Baseball Reference page, He has no fielding stats anywhere else but in as a catcher.

Maybe the problem hasn’t been the coaches or the players or the general manager or the owners or the fans, or the city of Detroit or the Teamsters union or the state of Michigan or kid rock or Eminem Or Diana Ross or the ambassador bridge or the tunnel or the Renaissance Center or Greektown or 8 mile road or Hamtramck or The great lakes or the governors lockdown or Windsor ONT with it’s fabled ballet or even my own hometown of Ann Arbor.

Maybe the problem has been the radio broadcast team. Maybe the problem has been Dan and Jim price.

Especially Jim price.

The Tigers only have one veteran player under contract for next year (Miggy $30M).

Zimmerman, cron, schoop, nova, romine, fielder, Maybin, & Mercer all vet salaries that won't be on the books. That's almost $51M. The problem is there really aren't any good options in free agency. I fully expect them to do the same thing they did this year, sign guys like Cron, Schoop, etc. for more bandaids. Looking like at least a few more years of being a bad baseball team.

If Detroit doesn't start getting a team that is better at walking and not striking out so much they're always be bad.

I don't think you need both, but one or the other must happen. TB had the most strikeouts in MLB but 2nd most walks and had the 2nd best record in baseball. The Angels had the 3rd most walks 9th fewest K's but missed the playoffs.

The Tigers just don't have anything. Bottom 10 in HR and doubles, fewest walks, top 10 K's, and the pitching staff with the worst ERA in all of baseball.

Interesting how adept Avila has become in acquiring players in the offseason who become injured during the season, such as SPs Ross and Moore, and positional players like Mercer, Harrison (who was released the same day that he came off the IL) And Cron, Schoop, SP Nova...Maybin was traded just before their CFer Jones went on the IL for the rest of the season.

It will help and TB had a very good staff, Detroit just awful. Thy had lots of k's but lots of walks. Better walk SO ratio over Detroit by far..
