Tigers vs. tamparays Spring Training March 8

Wasn't Strieby dropped from the 40 man? What does that mean to possible trades?

Someone could snag him in the rule v buts that's passed this season :) . Being off the 40 doesn't effect trade status, you can still do it.

The Tigers defeated the Rays 8-1 today to improve to 6-0 this spring. Team returns home tomorrow against the Phillies at 1:05.
Tigers were led by a three-run homer from Delmon Young and three hits each from Miguel Cabrera and Ramon Santiago.

Delmon has had a great spring so far. .444 with 2 HR and 5RBI

Still early, but Raburn too... .429 2hr 8rbi

Hopefully he can start the season hitting, and it wont take him until June to heat up.

Dang...6-0 record...I know its waaay early and just ST, but these Tigers are (so far) mostly looking already regular-season....seasoned.

Mitch[/color]]Is there any type of bad omen from a good ST start?

Good question Mitch. Back in the late 50s and early 60s I recall the Yankees would always suck in Florida, then...well, you know...
anyway, a better gauge may be the 2008 Tig's. They had all kinds of hope, of course, but their ST record, while o.k./so-so at 15-14, also showed that they had lost more in the second half of ST than the beginning. Also, I vaguely recall many of their pitchers got shelled. Now, this, the 2012 group, may well slip a bit the second half of ST b/c of trying out new pitchers and taking extra long look-sees at all of the kids, but I have to tell you that as long as they retain their health they could very well be dangerous all year. Only possible caveat might be if the big guns - PF, Cabby, AA, JP - hit a sucky spot at the same time that AJ, Mudhen & Cringe are stuck in their usual "extended slump", all at the same time.
