I live outside of the Detroit area, so I generally don't get to see the post-game interviews, but since I have watched some streams this week, I have seen Leyland's interviews, and he reminds me of certain politicians that will remain nameless here. He absolutely avoids saying anything of substance, or actually addressing anything directly. pretty sorry stuff

It's called throwing banalities out there because you don't want to address the real issues. Leland needs to deliver a huge kick in the pants to a lot of this team, but that just isn't how he appears to do things. Have they ever had a serious team meeting?

How about nice job Valverde for sucking ass! I really have no idea who else was left after the first game. The Tigers defense has been terrible all year and 1/2 of the lineup are automatic outs.

and that's the thing..people look at the payroll and have lofty expectations (as well they should) but the lineup is a mess after jackson, fielder, cabrera and the addition of fielder has been offset by boesch, avila, and peralta all having far worse offensive seasons from last.

The tigers may be able to sneak into the playoffs but there is no way this team can win it all in its current construct imo.

Any playoff team that gets hot at the right time can win the WS. The last two WS champions have proven that point.

those teams finished 10 and 13 games above .500 over the final stretch of the regular season...

Detroit is one game under .500 since early august.

Trust me I hope I'm the one that is wrong but both the cards and giants were not only hot during the PS but also finished the reg season strong.
