I really, really wish that some reporter in the post-game would mention that Valverde has given up a run in pretty much every appearance in the last couple of weeks, and ask why he was in in that situation.

Only when Valverde came in when he shouldn't have. The rest is simply on unfocused playing. I get the feeling that the Tigers team doesn't have much comprehension when it comes to scouting opposing pitchers that they don't know. They just don't seem to adjust, and expect things to work out if they go through their normal routine. It would be really interesting to have access to the daily routine to see what they do.

actually, we could have been in first place by a game if we'd swept the doubleheader. 82-70 for us and 81-71 for the shitsox. instead we're down by a game. fuck this team. we choke BADLY every time we have a chance to move into first.

As usual, the game really turned on defense. One bad throw by Avila is the difference between winning and losing. Of course, if that throw to first was a good one, then Valverde would have been in in the ninth, so who knows where it would have gone.
