Get StartedWell...that should put an end to the Phil Coke closer experiment.
As much as this is on the offense for not getting more than 2 runs....Benoit cant walk the leadoff guy, and Smoker can't let Coke face righties.....those who don't lean from history are doomed to repeat it.

If we're going to have a closer by committee, why not have Dotel pitch to the righty?

Not warmed up?
Who would have pitched if the game would have went into extra innings? This is one thing that the closer by committee debate hasn't really touched on. Burning guys for one batter in a close game will run you out of pitchers in a hurry. We have a winner!
That's the million dollar question Leyland can't wrap his $9.99 brain around.
Yes there is and it wasn't because he's better in the field IMO. Hunter was regularly taking balls from him to center right. Not that Trout isn't a fantastic fielder, just that they wanted to give their young star the more glorious spot. In the games I watched, Hunter out shined Trout in the field.

Nothing much uglier than leading by SHO throughout most of a game, then the BP coughing up a run or runs late, to make it very snug, then losing it on a walkoff. Especially to a bottom-feeding division rival team, that is expected to lose 90+. For shame, Leyland!!
this is no surprise. The bull pen is not good. get used to this kind of game. It isn't on Leyland...it is on DD not getting any BP help in the off season.
