Tigers vs. twins Game Thread August 13

His stats? The only gauge that matters...which is why you still don't understand everyones hatred of Delmon Young, all you have to do is look at the numbers.

Exactly, Berry's stats are better than Boesch as a starter. Throw in the fact that he has much better speed and a better defender and again I ask you...based on what is Boesch better than Berry this year?

No... Check out Berry's month by month stats. He clearly is coming down back to his norms. There is a reason he is a 27 year old rookie. Boesch > Berry.

Jackson leads off with a walk,

Dirks scorches a low liner to short dives for it and throws to second force,

Cabrera takes a belt high strike, up and in, that was inside, 55 foot fb blocked by dimwit, takes another inside for a strike, another f'n ump deryl cousins,

Prince takes a high fb, way outside, low outside, high for a walk,

Avila slider low and away, strike call, offspeed outside, low inside, grounder to second,

dumdum 20 pitches.

You missed the link, it's this half.

Berry's first half was unsustainable, and most of us knew this. Since the AS break, he's been terrible, striking out a TON, horrible OBP for a speed guy.

Right now....Berry is worse then Boesch, and has been for well over a month and a half.

And he may be better defensively, but he's not really all that great on D, he takes terrible, routes and gets poor reads on flyballs, luckily his speed can make up for that. Sometimes.

And his speed on the bases is nice, but with a second half OBP of .292, he's not on base enough for it to matter.

Berry gave the Tigers a nice lift while Dirks was out, but you can see the swing is long at times and he is getting over matched with FB's more often.
He can still be productive, used in spurts,

I should clarify that I am; in no way, inferring Boesch is a good player.

Just that he's the better option than Berry against all pitchers, and better then Baker vs. RHP.

They need to come up with a left-handed variation of AJax's swing for Berry. Guys with that kind of speed and no power need to concentrate on line drives...

Everyone take the first pitch except 3 players...And run through Lamont's stop signs...Time to go to the store for some more Popsicles..

Good to know that 1 month makes a season...Boesch had a better July. That's it.

Oh I agree with that... I'm not saying Boesch is good. Boesch is horrible most of the time, but still Boesch > Berry.

Young first ab 3 pitches,

Boesch first ab 3 pitches, low slider for swing and miss strike 3,
