Walks aside.. Porcello has a decent line going..

It's deceptive though, because look at the lineup he faced.

And even then he was not sharp.

True, BUT maybe this is the outing that turns him around mentally

Coke throws more pitches a week in the bullpen then he ever did as a Starter.

I have always liked him...did not think he'd make it as a starter...thought that was kinda dumb...or desperate

Porcello starts the 7th inning,

bucksixtyfive butera strikes out swinging,

Leyland makes the pitching change,
Porcello 6 1/3 innings, 1 run, 7 hits, 3 walks, 4 k's, 95 pitches,

Coke pitching,

revere strike call on the corner, again, fastball high, curve ground foul, grounder back to Coke flips to Cabrera,

plouffe strikes out swinging,

Tigers lead 5 - 1.

Just got back from the football game just in time for the 3 run inning... Whats up!!!

Porcello was awful, how he ended up with that line is amazing! Lucky, but better to be lucky than good sometimes. Hopefully he can build off this. Leyland pulled him at the right time. Give the kid a chance to feel real good.

He wants to be a starter, and has said he hoped he will be given another chance.

I would think he would realize his highest value is as an upper end bullpen guy, rather then as a lower end starter.

No argument here. He is solid as a late inning RP. At best, he's an average 4th starter.

Oh, he realizes. He's realizing about what a starter earns vs. what a left handed reliever earns.

After the contracts Benoit got, that might be changing

Figure what a slam the door relief arm gets, compared to a 5th starter?

Benoit 5.5 million
Penny 3.0 million

If he's smart, he'll stick to the BP niche, cause he's not going to make more money unless he can b a 2-3 type starter.
