A lot of career struggles from Tigers hitters against White Sox starter Jake Peavy. Miguel Cabrera is 8-for-35 (.229) for his career off Peavy, but 6-for-13 with five RBIs over the last couple years. Prince Fielder is 8-for-24 off Peavy, including 4-for-9 with two doubles this year.

Justin Verlander starts opener vs. AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox.
Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland doesn't want to declare the next three games against division-leading Chicago White a "make-or-break" series.
That's fair. But, it's still pretty darn important.
And, when it comes to important games, is there any other player the Tigers would rather have leading the charge other than their reigning AL Cy Young and MVP winner?
I think not.
Right-hander Justin Verlander takes the mound in Friday night's opener as the Tigers square off against the White Sox in a pivotal three-game weekend series at Comerica Park.
Winners in 10 of their last 12 games, the Tigers currently find themselves trailing the White Sox by 1 1/2 games in the AL Central. Two straight wins, and Detroit will officially own the division lead.
But, there's no sense in thinking ahead, right? One game at a time, as they say.
The White Sox, who have dropped four of six, will stroll out right-hander Jake Peavy, who has struggled out of the gate in the second half, allowing six runs and a career-worst 12 hits over seven-plus innings Saturday night.
With a right-hander on the mound for Chicago, Quintin Bery will remain in left field, batting second. Switch-hitter Ramon Santiago will bat ninth and start at second after a two-game absence. After two straight starts at second, the right-handed hitting Danny Worth will move back to the bench.
Utility infielder/outfielder Don Kelly is the lone left-handed hitter not in today's lineup. Worth, Ryan Raburn and catcher Gerald Laird are available off the bench.
