Get StartedJim sounds defeated looked like he was about ready to tear up in the post game..
Probably realizes he's coming to the end of a 30 year career in baseball.
Porcello's ERA by inning: 1st ? 6.43; 2nd ? 2.00; 3rd ? 3.67; 4th ?; 3.71; 5th ? 4.68; 6th ? 6.27; 7th ? 8.22; 8th ? 6.75
this was a ****ing pathetic showing. AGAIN.
alright, im fed up. i want these ****ers to tank it the rest of the way so we can ****ing blow up this shitty roster and get players that actually know what the ****ing glove is for and dont ****ing suck on offense.
players who need to be gone: young, raburn, boesch, santiago, valverde, coke, kelly, worth, putzkonen, peralta at minimum. i dont even care who they replace them with as long as theyre not worse than who we dumped (and in most of these cases, that'd be awfully ****ing hard to do). if DD cant fix this team, he needs to ****ing go.
at minimum we need a new closer (or new setup guy if benoit takes over the role), a new LOOGY because **** coke, a new SS who actually has some ****ing range and isnt terrible offensively (not that peralta is the latter, but he's ****ing killing us on defense with his range), 2 corner outfielders (young, raburn, and boesch are absolute trash, dirks and berry are 4th outfielders at best). i wouldnt say no to a new 2nd baseman, i dont like infante. he's far too streaky on offense and is about like i remember him on defense...****s up the simple plays like he did tonight. bullpens are streaky and we should be ok with a new closer and new LOOGY with al al, villareal, dotel, etc.
im typing this mostly on frustration and rage, lemme know if i missed anyone that needs to ****ing get off the roster.
he looks spent, i really do think hes gonna retire at the end of the season.
Some of those things could easily be fixed with the money they gave Prince. The Tigers will never have a good lineup from top to bottom with three $20+ million players.
Which things Tom?
Who was available as a FA we could have signed in Princes place that would have made us better at so many positions. Easily fixed as you say.
Last year they could have gotten a good OF (Cepedes), Jonny Gomes and Fernando Rodney. The Tigers would probably have a better record right now and still have about $130 million to spend this off season.
Cespedes is hurt all the time, plus he was an unknown gamble, most teams passed on a guy who never played professional baseball ever wanting the money he did.
And Rodney? Get the **** outta here with acting like you knew he was going to be this good. Seriously.
And put Gomes and Cespedes together and you still don't have Fielders production.
Seriously, let it go, you;re not going to win any argument where you say Prince was a bad signing.
Of course I didn't know if Rodney was going to be good. I was just showing you that with the right moves a GM can make a complete team vs. the boat load of crap DD has given us (other than about 6 guys). I am going to stand by my opinion that the Prince signing was stupid. They are a slow team and are poor defensively. Prince is not a good fit. They are probably going to miss the playoffs this year with Prince.....if they didn't sign him DD would have $214 million to spend this off season. I can't believe anybody thinks it was a good signing.
No.
That amount of money only got spent because Mr. I wanted Prince, you're crazy if you think he lets DD spend that kind of money on a bunch of average players just to fill holes.
If we had not signed Prince, we would have a much lower payroll is all, not the same payroll with more players. You didn't even think that through did you?
Rodney has been excellent. Damn you Rodney  . But I was glad when he was gone at the time.

I didn't realize that when the Tigers signed Valverde we were getting Rodney 2.0
