Tigers vs. whitesox Game Thread Sept. 13

I think this works in our favor actually.

It was always going to be tough to win 3 straight at the Cell, and most of us figured a split was likely. Now we ended up winning a 3 game series, and avoided their best pitcher, but get to throw Fister at them again Monday, and we have a good chance to win a single game series.

And the way everything maps out, we get Scherzer on the mound for the final game with Verlander on 4 days rest if he's needed. and if we tie, Verlander ready for the one game playoff on normal rest.

Good point. Hopefully they can get to Floyd this time around!

honestly id've rather faced sale than floyd, but yeah i feel better about a single game than a 4th game in a row. only real downside is no more days off till the end of the season because of the rainout makeup with the royals.

Well the problem is with Sale is he's a lefty, which means we lose Dirks, but are still stuck with Boesch (stupid because of 2 HR's) and get Laird not Avila, and have no RH bats on the bench. (Raburn still hurt, and Santiago sucks from the right side).

Vs. Floyd Dirks and Avila get to play, Boesch too I guess...but will get lifted eventually for Garcia.

I just like our matchup vs. a righty much better then vs. a lefty.

i agree in general, except for how we usually hit against these particular lefties and righties. we've owned sale and usually get owned by floyd.

Change of plans: Tigers will face Jose Quintana in makeup game in Chicago on Monday instead of Gavin Floyd.

Quintana, as you'll recall, started series opener, opposite Porcello and gave up just 1 run in 7.2 IP. Was 1st time Tigers had seen, though.
