Tigers vs. whitesox Game Thread Sept. 13

White Sox announce game will be delayed due to threat of rain in area. No word on when game will start.

Then rain is moving very slow if they aren't starting this due to the "threat of rain" I honestly can't see it happening at all tonight the rain looks to be a good 30 mins out yet with as slow as it's moving, then once it starts it'll be raining for a good 3-4 hours by the looks of it's slowness.

Next 6 hours
Rain, becoming more intermittent around midnight. Mostly cloudy with temperatures steady or falling to near 52F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.

If the game is postponed to Monday, that would mean a Sunday night flight from Cleveland to Chicago, and a red eye back to Detroit the next night, with no days off after. Let's hope the skies clear up enough to get it in.

It's a 45 min flight.

It's a 45 min flight.

It's not about the flight, it's about the schedule interruptions, which add up to a whole lot more than 45 minutes, and can really get messed with any weather problems. I'm a musician, and have been on the road at times where you do a number of consecutive flights; I know something about this. It also means no days off, which is not a good thing for some of the players that could use a bit of reset time before the final push (ankles, perhaps?).

Okay, but the term Red-Eye usually refers to an all night or over night flight.

Hence me saying it was 45 mins. Granted I don't want to lose an off day, but I also don't want to waste a Verlander start because he warmed up already and had to sit too long, and we have to use a different pitcher.

Would we really lose a start from him? I would guess he would have saved the more crucial part of his warm up until we have a more definite start time. Now, starting the game, then going into a rain delay would be a real drag; one that We are all too familiar with from last ALCS.

If it does get delayed, then would Verlander pitch tomorrow, or just wait until a later date, possibly even Monday?

Game postponed.

Starts pushed back, so Fister will start against the Sox monday. Verlander, Sanchez, Porcello vs. CLE.

Tigers rotation will be pushed back a day. JV, Anibal and Porcello will pitch in Cleveland, Fister will start on Monday.

Well this is certainly and interesting twist, I really hope we aren't 3 back again when they return for the game Monday. Any words on the sox starting rotation are they going to save sale for us or maybe we'll get that freaking srum and shut us down again.

We get Gavin Floyd again....

Dang it!!!

Forget Leyland, Mudhen and the Umpires!!!

Even Mother Nature has it in for the Detroit Tigers this season!!!

I think this works in our favor actually.

It was always going to be tough to win 3 straight at the Cell, and most of us figured a split was likely. Now we ended up winning a 3 game series, and avoided their best pitcher, but get to throw Fister at them again Monday, and we have a good chance to win a single game series.

And the way everything maps out, we get Scherzer on the mound for the final game with Verlander on 4 days rest if he's needed. and if we tie, Verlander ready for the one game playoff on normal rest.
