Tigers vs. whitesox Game Thread Sept. 2

And that's what every single one of us expected from him tonight (minus the lead off home run) for JV....primetime, national tv, first place on the line against your division rival and he delivered. And really there was very little doubt that he wouldn't deliver.

How many pitching changes has Ventura made in this series? Yeesh...

With that inning, Justin Verlander now ranks No. 1 in the majors in innings, in strikeouts, and he's fifth in the majors in ERA.

Verlander now has 24 career 10+ strikeout games, tying him with Jim Bunning for third-most by a Tigers pitcher since at least 1918. Only Jack Morris (25) and Mickey Lolich (54) have more.

that lolich stat is impressive.

This win is huge because it assures the Tigers win the season series against Chicago. If they end up tied and the loser gets the wild card, the Tigers win the division and Chicago is the wild card. If the loser doesn't get the wild card, the Tigers will host the one game playoff. At least that's how it would've worked last year.

Entering tonight's game, the Tigers were 20-3 when Verlander reaches double-digits in strikeouts.

it's his defense, and chasing low and away too often, yes he gets them sometimes like the low one tonight for the homerun, but he is very frustrating to watch most of the time, at least for me,
when he's hot he's hot kind of like Raburn past couple of years August/Sept, but has most of us swearing at him most of the year,
But that's Delmon Young....always has been. He was good down the stretch last year, in the postseason and generally has been good this year. He's got 30 HR's in 170 games as a Tiger. I'll take it!

oh this is going to be good, we might see something this inning.....
Valverde coming in and pus face pierzynski is the third batter,

Over the last 4 years @JustinVerlander has had 11+ K's fifteen times... the most in baseball. #Tigers #Beast.

Great game by JV on espn and nation wide audience seeing the best pitcher in baseball,

if salsa verde fucks this up i dont think JV ever lets leyland take the ball from him again lol
