Tigers vs. whitesox Game Thread September 12

Most of the complaining was not about the 1st innings, it's been Porcello's season as a whole.

4.83 ERA, he got the job done, but in the playoffs that first inning might have been much worse.

Like I said, he still worries me.

I will defend Porcello all the way. I think the fan base has unfairly turned on him. At the end of 2009, he was a golden child. Then he has shown great ability but also has experienced some growing pains.

The guy is 22 years old and already has 85 starts in MLB. He is far...extremely far...from becoming the pitcher he has the ability to be.

He had a 10 game streak this year where he posted an ERA of 2.74 ERA with a WHIP of 1.156.

Porcello will be a great pitcher. Tiger fans need to lighten up on him.

Nice my pathetic Raiders are on MNF ready to embarrass themselves in front of the entire nation..

Tigers 8th inning,

Raburn 2 and 2, swings and misses down and in,

Inge takes a fastball inside corner strike, lines a single to right,

Jackson fastball fouled back, fastball low, ground foul, line drive single to center Inge to second,
pinch runner for Jackson is Dirks,

Santiago strike call at the knees, fly to right,

Kelly fastball to the backstop Tigers runners move up to second and third, fly to left center,

Tigers lead 14 - 2.

I'm not turning on him, I like Porcello.

But that does not change the fact he has not been that good, you can point out his good streak, but all it does is tell you how bad he has been at times if he stills ends up with an ERA just under 5.

I'm not giving up on him, but he needs to work something out, either release point, windup mechanics, or grip, but his #1 pitch is not always there for him, and for him to be successful he needs it to be.

He was a golden child in 2009 because his sinker was one of the best in baseball and iirc he lead the AL in ground balls that year.

He needs to get that sinker back.

Carlos sighting at 1b

Carlos Guillen replacing Miguel Cabrera at 1st base, is his first game anywhere since Sept. 4, and his 1st game at 1st base since 2009.

Price wondering on the radio why Santos has not come in for Avila, giving him more rest.

As much as I would chuckle at the possibilty of Inge behind the plate, I think they are going to keep a catcher on the bench at all times.

At least until the playoffs

Porcello still can be a great pitcher in this league. He's unreliable this year and that's fine since we got Fister, but I still think he could be a #2 pitcher at some point in his career. 85 starts at 22 years old is a lot of experience to have.

Who is the field goal kicker for the White Sox?

And were either of Detroit's touchdowns passing, or were they both scored on the ground?

HAAAAAAA HAAAAAAA HAAAAAAA HAAAAAAA!

Ain't that funny?

Schlereth 8th inning, Dirks CF, Carlos 1B, Worth already 2B, Santiago SS,

escobar singles to right,

flowers full count, fouls a fastball, again, again, fly to right Raburn back to the fence now comes in and has it,

ffpierzynski grounds foul by first, replay looks like it was a half inch from the line either way, curve strike call, grounder to Carlos fields it perfectly and runs to first,

Leyland takes Schlereth out and Perry is pitching,

viciedo fastball at the knees ball, fastball tails away and off Avila's glove runner to third passed ball, fastball up and in, fastball strike call, inside for a walk,

quentin fastball swings and misses, slider low, fastball low, 97 fouled back, swings and misses a changeup,

Tigers lead 14 - 3.
