Tigers vs. yankees Game Thread April 27

Tigers were 12-15 at the end of last April and won the division by 15 games

I know I posted a whole rundown on that on the bandwagon thread... 7 game losing streak in April and they were even 25-25 in very late may.... but to start off so good and tail like this really hurts... last year we just started poor for 2 months...

that actually makes me feel a little better, however we aren't getting Victor back as soon this year though and once the weather turns cold again in the post season.. well.. you know how the bats like the cold. i

Do you ever feel like your watching the same movie over and over again not remember while your watching it that you;ve seen it before.

:ugh:

There was nothing wrong with the manager tonight. Jesus. Ballplayers have to make routine plays or the team will lose.

Yes.... except bringing in BV... We already know he is no good in tight games..

Maybe if he didn't put out the worst lineups he can think of, those routine plays would be made. Seriously the thing that is irking me the most right now is the fact that Don Fucking Kelly was batting #5 "protecting" Prince. I can't think of another manager in the league dumb enough to bat a utility guy in the 5 hole.

Yeah, as soon as it got to 6-5 I knew that the Yanks were going to somehow tie the game up.

How about leave Coke in for the 8th and avoid this whole situation? Or maybe Don Kelly can field a fly ball like a normal baseball player and the game wouldn't have been tied in the first place.

You can't go back in time.

Benoit had already replaced Coke.

So I'm asking, if it was so dumb to bring in BV, who else....options are leave in Benoit, who he already complained about, the new rookie Putkonen, or Valverde, in a non-save situation.

IMO Benoit isn't confident he's aiming in fear of walks. Need to let Dotel start going 2 per, he's been lights out. mix it up with what's hot and letting what's cold work it out in non pressure situations, the stubborn this is x and this is y style just isn't going to cut it anymore. again all JMO

Bring in Valverde. He has actually proven he can get outs. Villareal has done nothing to prove he can get hitters out.

an awful lineup and moronic bullpen management qualify in my book.

Lineup I'll give you.

Bullpen script is Dotel/coke 7th, Benoit 8th, and Valverde 9th in save situations. 99 times out of 100 you take that if the situation presents it.

Nothing was wrong with the bullpen management, it just does not always work out.

I was watching the draft flipping back and forth and I had absolutely no doubt what so ever that Benoit was going to hold it so I turned it back. Came back for the 9th and saw the whole thing while sitting completely silent never once changing the expression on my face or even bothering to get upset for I knew it was already a foregone conclusion, reality has now set in that we just simple aren't that good, just hope all those high salaries aren't going to ruin the franchise now for years to come given that there is no WS title anywhere near.

I'm actually ok with that in most cases, but not on the road.

Plus, people would be howling up a storm if he was brought into a non-save situation.

Leyland was going to get blamed regardless who he brought in, that's all I'm trying to point out.
