Tigers vs. yankees Game Thread August 6

If you're a Tiger fan who went to the game tonight (or us watching) you can't ask for more than this...perfect weather, Yankees in town, JV dominates, Prince and Miggy go yard, every starter gets a hit and you win the game 7-2. Perfect night.

Well I could ask for the white sox to lose once in a damn while but yes otherwise..lol

I just wish Verlander was an ace lol. Great win and as many have said we are blessed to be able to watch JV and Miggy every day. Trading for Miggy is the best trade ever.

Yup, the trade for Miggy was golden, we get a HOFer and maybe the best Tiger hitter of a generation for a couple prospects, this trade truly reiterated that prospects are not known quantities and if you can get proven players for them, more times than not it pays off.

I'll hold off on the playoff thread til after the Angels-As game.

Weaver has given up one hit through three....to Brandon Inge.

THE Brandon Inge. He is the best .190 hitter in the game ya know.

But he's had a couple of walk-offs this year so the Bay Area has fallen in love. They've got some low expectations don't they? Must be all the weed...

I'm curious what they actually say about him, the fans. His game after game of 1-5 it can't be all good between Inge and the fans. They're not stupid, are they?

Look at some of the other hitters on their roster, Inge is probably considered middle of the pack there.

I worked with a cameraman in the Bay Area just after Inge was traded, and you'd a thought that the A's had picked up Al Simmons. I told him that Inge had a career OPS of under .700 and soon enough he'd see him flail at sliders 10 inches of the plate for strike three. He didn't want to hear it.

Al Simmons, lol. Simmons could have one arm and no feet and be better than Inge.

How'd the hell did they get back in the race? Pitching?

For the most part

Their offense hasn't been anything special since the ASB, their starting pitching has been excellent since the ASB, and they have an above average defense.

It also helps to win close games...they swept the Yankees 4 straight in 1 run games.

However, it looks like they're starting to come back down to earth losing 5 of the last 7.
