valverde is the luckiest closer ever. i used to say that about jones but valverde is worse than he is.

Tigers win 6 - 5,
Porcello wins his 9th,
Valverde gets his 22nd save,
two aspirin.... thanks papa grande,
Tigers Victory Cigar.

Yup and he was up by 5 runs... He normally struggles in that spot.. But up 5 runs should he have pitched?

Yes.

All that "don't bring him in in non-save situations" stuff is pure nonsense.

When your number is called you gotta go.

Nice win, I agree with leaving valverde out there, lucky or not he got it done. of course that is easy ti day after the w but if it was me I probably wouldve left him out there too.

Tigers win 6-5, the club's 10th straight win at home. 10-game streak matches Comerica Park record established 6/15-7/15/06.
tied for 2nd-longest streak in Live Ball Era; they won 11 straight at home in 1949.

I had no idea. That long road trip made me forget about this home streak.

OK now that my heart is back in its usual spot, being my chest...I plan on making myself a nice stiff drink...

2006? Hmm...a sign of things to come? World Series title or bust.

Thankfully, Target Field is like a home away from home for the Tigers.
