Time to shuffle the deck

At this point you cannot do very much. What they can do though is to not do silly things like bat Avila 6th ahead of 3 RH against tough lefties.

wash, rinse and repeat.

I mentioned in another thread that I've come around. If Jackson insists on swinging at the ball like Ike Brown with zero concept of adjusting from pitch to pitch AND play a crappy, scared CF, then he needs to sit and be replaced by Dirks and his amazing .296 OBP. That's how bad the situation is. Raburn, Dirks and Kelly in the OF in the ALCS. That should be a getaway OF in the middle of July after a 10-game road trip that is concluding in Oakland.

It's painful to watch Jackson windmill it up there, but he hasn't been a plus offensive player all year and the team was still very successful.

The problem is the all stars aren't hitting. Either they will hit and the Tigers will win, or they won't and they'll lose. Dirks is terrible, so removing Jackson is pointless. As far as lead off, if a decent OB guy is moved there, then great, but Santiago is not that player.

Cabrera, Martinez, Avila and Peralta need to pick it up, or the season is just about over.

If any two of those players picked it up, that's all the Tigers' would need. Agreed that Dirks is awful. But Jackson is an auto-out these days, with more than 50% of his ABs as Ks in the post season. Could even Dirks perform with that degree of futility?

Jackson is at .290 OBP, which is terrible. It is also right about what Dirks did for the year. So, yeah, Jackson is painful to watch, but he is capable of being better. Dirks would be at about .300 OB if he played to his potential.

Last chance to show you have a little sense Jimmy.
