tired of all the excuses for calvins record

You're just as fn stupid as Gruden. They weren't meaningless and it's already been explained a dozen times why.

Now sit there and tell me the Lions were playing "catchup" football all year. I dare ya.

tomdalton is a total joke.

fuck off! I said it was a good accomplishment. When a team is always down they are forced to throw the ball.

Any different when AP gets the ball When ahead? And defenses knows CJ is getting the ball so they drape 3 guys on him, impressive.

AP is a different story IMO. I have serious questions regarding his miracle come back. He is better now than ever before coming off of a very serious knee injury....in a league that doesn't test for HGH???

then why question it ? if it's not tested for its fair game.

Peyton Manning should be fucking paralyzed , guaranteed he got some of the good stuff to.

You might as well bash Barry Sanders for all those yards when they ran draws when the Lions were down 20 and the defense was in prevent with a 2 or 3 man rush. I watched EVERY SINGLE game Barry Sanders ever played with the Lions.....that happened a LOT.

The numbers are the numbers....saying it is in any way tarnished because of the Lions record is just plain stupid.

I personally think it should all be fair game.....it's just for our entertainment!

I guarantee every record holder or near record holder had "garbage time".

you are right....but I think that WRs and QB's yardage stats are more influenced by "garbage time" while trying to catch up than any other offensive stat.

jerry rice had 800 receiving yards in 1995 when the final margin of victory for either team was 15+ points

I'm sure most of those yards were during wins and not at the end of games when the 49ers were getting beat. That was an 11-5 team....probably not many games playing catch up.

That actual is worse garbage time for Rice if they are up. The other team should be thinking run and then San Fran ends up passing. It reflects good on San Fran though going for the throat.

With Calvin, the other team knew it would be pass, the other team knew he was the only main weapon and Calvin still got open whether they are giving up yards or not. The garbage was all the dunks to Joique Bell not the throws to Calvin. Even more impressive as an individual but reflects bad on the Lions for sucking.

Though the down two scores with even 5 minutes isn't garbage time. Those yards and ability to score to pull it to within one score is still important and should be contested (see Lions failing up 2 scores against the Colts). See Eagles game comeback, Titans game, Raiders game 2011, Cowboys game 2011, at Vikings game 2011, Vikings game 2011(for the Vikings almost coming back). They were up on the Packers, Texans and Cotls and Jags. Seahawks/Rams were back and forth all day.

Up 3 scores against the Lions is garbage time. Up 2 scores, the Lions can still comeback with Calvin being Calvin.

Completely wrong. What do teams do when winning in the 4th quarter? They run..

Like Calvin is getting prevent defenses, lol. So he gets double teamed rather than triple teamed? Plus, as already pointed out the Lions have been in close games most of the season.

how the fuck can you argue garbage time ??? its been pointed out several times in this thread the Lions were in 10 point or less games going into the 4th quarter 11 out of 15 times this year.

garbage times is when you are up 20+ in the 4th quarter and still chucking the ball for yardage....kinda like Brees and the Saints last year a few times.

2,000 yards receiving is an absolute god like season for a WR......

Calvin has 1,265 yards in Quarters 1-3 and OT. And not every 4th Quarter were they trailing and didn't catch up (Rams/Seahawks/Eagles/Titans) leading (Jags/Pack/Colts/Texans)
