Titus Young's situation is not something to make fun of anymore. He is not well. I'm rooting for him to get well and would be happy to see him make it back to the NFL some day.

Was just about to post this, apparently this is a condition he has had for a while and has just been kept private within his family. Some posters in comments on "Pride of detroit" put it pretty well as one member had been on the drug Titus is on, and described it as "being pacified half the time, and going through a drug withdrawl half the time", which could help make sense of his errant behavior recently. Hope he can get some sort of help with his condition, whatever it may be.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I genuinely feel bad for the guy... he really has NO people in his life to lead him in the right direction... he needs a positive influence in his life.

Sounds like people have been trying to reach out to him....

In what appears to be a coincidence of timing, Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall appeared Monday on "NFL Live" to discuss treatment for mental illness at around the same time the father of former Detroit Lions receiver Titus Young was hinting that his son suffers from an unspecified mental disorder.

Richard Young told the Detroit News that Titus Young has a condition "caused by his brain being compressed into the front of his skull," according to the report. Titus Young has sought outpatient help at several treatment facilities and, according to the Detroit Free Press, has was prescribed a drug known as Seroquel. According to its website, the drug is used to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, among other conditions.

Marshall was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2011 and is now an advocate for treatment. He told ESPN host Trey Wingo that he reached out to Young several months ago to no avail.

"But months back, I wanted to get my hands on Titus, just sit down with him and possibly walk him into the doors of the same program I was in," Marshall said in the video. "But I think there were some things in the way that kept us both from moving forward. And I am disappointed in that because, since then, it's just gotten worse and one of the things I stress was without the proper treatment, it's just going to make things worse.

"So I'm praying for Titus and I know this can be a success story, but we need to embrace it and we also need to advocate for people in positions like this."

While I suppose everyone has had their own suspicions, this is the first public discussion of Titus Young potentially suffering from a mental illness. I'm sure some will wonder if Young's father is covering for simple immaturity from his son, but those who are familiar with mental illness know there is more gray than black or white when it comes to diagnosis. For Young's sake, you hope there is a deeper explanation for his behavior than simply bad decisions.

hughesy...my personal opinion is mental disorder. The lining up incorrectly, the "I'm better than Calvin," the let's punch our oft-injured yet exceptionally talented safety type stuff...maybe immaturity. Throw in the most recent shit....something's wrong. Seriously wrong.

I hope that Titus finds his way...

It came out today that he was also arrested on May 4th for robbing a convenience store. He took a candy bar and a bottle of water then went back in and stole cigars. He was charged with 2 felonies because if you go into a store with the intent to steal stuff its a felony. He is facing up to 7 1/2 years on those 2 counts plus his other charges that he has had added on the past 10 days,

I thought it only entered into felony territory when the amount stolen goes over 1000$. hm.

I think it also takes into account if you have the money in your pocket to buy the items but steal them anyway. Like if your poor and stealing to eat isn't as bad as someone just stealing to steal.

Was told a funny story on Sunday about Titus..lol.

I have a buddy who's sister works for some cell phone store in Detroit. Store was closing, Titus comes up and starts bashing on the door screaming, "you know who i am"? and going nuts. He goes home, but comes back the next day with his sister/assistant, makes another scene, then all of a sudden he stops, turns around and takes a fn nap on one of the benches in the store...full out power nap, snoring. The most bizarre thing this chick ever saw...lol.

someone bash him in the head with a bat and hope he ends up better when he wakes up. If not...whats the loss?

How was all this not known pre draft?

Would seem hard to not notice.

How could he be fine and then nuts-oh when the Father says he's been like this forever. He must have been very good at hiding it or Mayhew just flat out missed.

There was proably something when they looked at him and drafted him but it sounds like its been getting worse and worse over time. From Honolulu blue to county blues, he needs to be on lock down before he hurts someone.

I heard something yesterday saying that in California it is a felony to enter a commercial business with the intent to steal anything. Not sure if that's true or not, but it sounds like it could be given the reports on what he's now facing as charges.

Jesus, now he has a restraining order against him for threats he made

I'm guessing he no longer has been taking his meds or they severely need to up the dosage.
