Lions have to win out.

Granted there is a solid chance they will go winless from here out simply because they are the Lions.

Ok, maybe they can afford 1 loss and still make the playoffs as a WC, but is there still an off chance that losing even 1 more game will push them out of the WC position? Sure there is. If either San Fran or Seattle win out and Dallas and Philly split and win out, then one more loss and the Lions would be out with even an 11-5 record. Slim chance in that I guess, but second place in North is not a guaranteed WC berth.

Hopefully the Lions recognize this and start playing like it is all or nothing from here out. Sure they MIGHT make playoffs at 11-5, but they also might not.

SF and Seattle still play each twice. Best case for us, IMO, for one of those teams to win both. Seattle also plays Arizona again, at their place - and Philly. Tough schedule. Dallas and Philly still face each other twice. Lots of time left. 11-5 will get them in..do I see them finishing 11-5, no.

That's not reasonable. That's saying it will take 12 wins to make the playoffs, which is ridiculous. Seattle and San Fran have both been no better than the Lions this year. Presuming either could win out is silly. Dallas is playing with a gimpy QB and has a tough ending schedule. Philly is likely to run away with that division.

The Lions are likely to win 3 of their next 5 games. That's probably enough to get a playoff berth. San Fran currently has more conference losses, while I think Dallas is going to fall off once their schedule turns. Detroit probably wins a tie-breaker with San Fran for the final playoff spot.

I layed out how 11 wins could potentially result in not making playoffs. Hoping that 10 wins and they can squeak in is...well...not very hopeful, IMO. But hey, if it happens, GREAT!!!...I guess...well, not really. GREAT would be them actually winning a playoff game! BWAHAHAHAHAHA...ahem...sorry...

You laid out how Seattle and SF can win out..so its a bit flawed. 11 just doesn't give you a little chance, it's almost impossible for the Lions not to get in with 11 wins.

Also, noteworthy SOS 31 of 32 teams. So 7-4 with an easy freakin' schedule. Swell.

It's actually funny but...detroit has the second best strength of victory out of the nfc playoff seeds. Only behind Arizona.

OR...not AND...I know they play each other twice. It only takes ONE of them to win out and Lions to lose one more game for the Lions to be bumped from 6 to 7 and miss the playoffs coupled with Cowboys / Eagles split but win out otherwise. With only 5 games left, it is not a stretch for any of those teams to be hot enough down the stretch to win the required games.

Not betting on any scenario, just providing some potentials that could result in Lions winning 11 games but fail to make the playoffs. They would hardly be the first team to miss out despite 11 wins.

Anyone following my posts as closely as you seem to be should recognize my posts of this nature are more of a mocking of LKP than true belief. Those posts were coupled with statements of the Lions going undefeated and such after all. Sorry if you failed to see it for hyperbole and such, but please don't try making posts made in jest to be something else.

Damn man you had me believing!

Yeah we need to win four to make it pretty close to a lock.. 10-6 may not do it unless GB
slips up...

I hope all the people sucking off Linehan have watched this game. My 2 year old son could be an offensive coordinator with this offensive line.

I thought they were rushing 3 on that first play. No way a team should have 7.5 seconds or more twice..what the fudge.

Lol... its good to dream, don't get me wrong! we all carry that ever so faint dream that one day they can be champions, but reality slaps us awake at some point.
