That's unusual framing given what is being reported on it. It wasn't exactly random: the shooter was a former student of the school.

There was a sex scandal at the school that occurred during the years the shooter was there (link to lawsuit proceedings that resulted from it; link to Buzzfeed article with more information); the child molester is named John Perry, who was a prominent pastor in the area & co-wrote books with Mike Huckabee & Judge Roy Moore. Creeps, all of them.

Given the age of the shooter, he/she/whoever would've been a student at the same time John Perry was there, but there are not (yet?) any detail linking them to the incident.

The shooter targeted the school headmaster; here's a twitter thread that documents the dates and factual information around the sexual abuse cases, and speculates the shooter might've been a victim of it.

Truly horrible all around.

Well, I mean, come on he's like 600 years old. If you heard some of the stuff inappropriate stuff Grandpa Michchamp says (and he's nowhere near 600), you'd understand.

The point is, he didn't come out and make this all about trans people like spartanmakkk said.

Also, I just read an update in the NY Post that the FBI has stepped in and said they'd release the manifesto after review... but the locals are still claiming the shooter had targeted other schools. Guessing the local establishment (who likely include the rich presbyterians that send their kids to this school) has an interest in seeing the story buried, unless they can politically exploit it as anti-christian violence, without having to air their own dirty laundry.

or the close relatives of people killed in mass shootings are brought on, and after they say how grateful they are to Remington, Winchester, Glock, Beretta, Smith&Wesson, Sig, and the many makers of AR-15s, they get a grab bag of McDonald's coupons, a years supply of Hot Pockets, some coupons to Kroger, and other crap like that.
