Trade Jennings

I meant that it's a joke because he's a terrible basketball player that is taking the place of someone that's more deserving. The fans can vote for whomever they want...it doesn't mean they're right.

But it happens, just like when Jeter was an all star. Jeter wasn't the first voted in his last season and Kobe won't be the last.

And why does it even matter, it's the NBA. Everyone hates the all star game. Just like the pro bowl.

No, not everyone hates the all-star game. PLENTY of people enjoy it.

The Jeter thing was a crock too. You are right though...all of the all star games are stupid.

I think they are all dumb too , more in the sense that they vote for players based on a half year's playing performance . How many times have guys had great first halves and then shit the bed the second half . But they are still considered to have an all star season . Makes no sense

I think they are stupid also. Fan voting is a joke. I'd rather get a group of guys in a room and break down raw stats and watch tape for the All-Star game.

I don't want a guy with 15 PPG, .347 FG, .249 3PP, who is turning it over twice a game (Kobe). He shouldn't be anywhere near this all-star team, and it's crap because he's taking a spot from someone who actually deserves it.

The spot you say he's taking from another guy, probably still gets in because there's always someone who cancels.

From an ESPN article

• The Detroit Pistons, as our own Zach Lowe noted in a recent podcast, are huge fans of Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson.

Which should come as a complete non-surprise when you remember that Pistons coach/team president Stan Van Gundy so successfully unleashed Anderson as a stretch four in Orlando flanking Dwight Howard.

So why don't the Pistons make a run at Anderson before the Feb. 18 trade deadline?

Sources say they're waiting for free agency, when they'll have a clear path to pursue an SVG/Anderson reunion without surrendering any of their current assets.

I'm not sure Anderson is much better of a defender than Ilyasova/Morris, but he's exactly the high volume sharpshooter that would complement Drummond. And the reasoning is sound. If Anderson wants to team up with SVG again, there's no reason to give up assets now. This team isn't one Ryan Anderson away from contending this year. Better to look for other trades (maybe a SG that can actually shoot and stay healthy) that may fit with next year's roster.

Side note: Anthony Morrow, a perennial backup SG with a career 43% from three is all but out of the rotation in OKC. He's also signed for a pittance (3.3 million/year) through next season. OKC might dump him just to save money on their tax bill. Now, we can't take him on for nothing (we are over the cap), but we could certainly pay off a team like Philly with a 2nd rounder to foot the bill of say Steve Blake in order to make the numbers all work. OKC saves something like 10 million in luxury tax bills, we get Morrow, and Philly takes on Steve Blake for the price of one 2nd rounder.

You don't like KCP ? I love him , hes exactly the type of player we need on the team . He's becoming well known aroun d the league for beng a lock down defender . He also has a pretty good all around offensive game . I think his shot struggles a bit because he uses so much energy on D .

Remember we have Jodie Meeks coming back , who is one of the best shooters in the league .

I'm not trying to replace KCP with Morrow. I really like KCP's defense, though I disagree that he has much offensive game. I want Morrow to replace Meeks, who also is probably misrepresented as one of the best shooters in the league. My problem with Meeks is that he's been a health liability since he was signed. He's also pretty overpaid as a one-trick pony. Morrow is a better version of Meeks' one trick at half the price.

Meeks is not the answer just a short term stop gap..

He's been hurt , cant really say that . If we go out and try to replace him , what are we gonna get thats any better ? He's a deadly shooter , let him get back and into the rotation . He's alot better than Morrow

I don't think I would call Meeks a "deadly shooter"

Comparing the two it seems like Morrow is a better shooter.

Career numbers

Morrow: 45.2% from the field, 42.8% from 3 and 88.4% from the free throw line
Meeks: 42.2% from the field, 37.3% from 3 and 88.1% from the free throw line

Meeks shot was off even before his injury. Does Meeks defense at all because I forgot if he did?

Meeks has little to no defensive value. Morrow does what Meeks does, only better. Even if Meeks comes back healthy at some point, more shooting is never a problem for this team.

I don't mind Morrow at all , when hes hot its amazing to witness . I just remember Meeks back on the Lakers when he was the only one who could score . He played pretty damn well on a horrible team . Just think he brings a little more to the table than just a spot up shooter . Im looking forward to him coming back , instant offense off the bench is never a bad thing .

Well this sucks , woulda been a nice trade for . Thad Young is a good player and would move Ely to the 2nd unit for more scoring punch . Oh well , we shall see how it unfolds .

I don't think this trade ever made sense. Even if we ignore the fact that Young is way more valuable than Jennings and any team would be dumb to make that swap, Young isn't a good fit for our team either. He is exclusively a paint scorer, and would be unplayable with Drummond and Jackson. Bringing him off the bench would be equally strange since he's considerably better than any other option we have at SF or PF.

In a vacuum, no team trying to win would trade Young for Jennings. Being team specific, Detroit might be the only team where Jennings has more utility than Young.
