Trump's communications director quits

I'm not just talking about people on welfare. I'm talking about poor people in general. There are too many that don't work hard, don't get educated or pursue a marketable skill. Too many that have children when they can't afford to raise them. Too many that don't raise their kids right and make sure they don't fall into the same cycle. I think there are millions of poor people that are poor because they are too lazy to change their situation.

Not agreeing with your premise, but I'm wondering why do you think this is the way you think it is? Has it always been like this with too many lazy people or did something change to make more Americans lazy?

I blame bad parenting

That's just beating a dead horse..like trying to have the last post in is trolling.

That thread died soon afterward, so the .gif was quite accurate.

Out of those who post at least fairly often in this forum, the amounts of whom identify as being left-neutral-right are pretty equally distributed.

you give yourself too much credit - the thread was already dead but in this case it has to do with your refusal to admit you're wrong and let it go than it does with the thread dying.

yes. welfare made America lazy and it accelerated the destruction of the two parent household which has been further accelerated by the Democratic party - they're throwing gas on the flames.

This is a place where we differ. I don't understand how a person can believe in the efficiency of free markets and the idea that self interest is such a powerful motivator and at the same time believe people receiving welfare are happy enough to sit back and be lazy.

Okay...so from now on I am not going to believe a single word that tinsel posts....b/c he "might" only be joking.

That's hardly at the top of the list of reasons for which a person shouldn't believe a single word I post...

I tend to believe that many more spouses entering the workforce, in order to maintain and enhance a middle-class lifestyle that they grew up in and were accustomed to, vs the ever-rising costs of living and stagnating wages/salaries beginning in the 80s, is what has caused 'latchkey" kids to lose much parental oversight and guidance. And violent war-gaming software has only made it worse. Your placing more of the blame on Democrats is laughable....but likely is from reading too much of Mark Levin's biased POV.

It's crazy to think of what a major shift it is that full-time stay at home moms have become a thing of the past and yet it's rarely mentioned when people talk about what's changed.

I don't read or listen to Mark Levin (or any other conservative talk radio) and what you tend to believe vs. what the actual facts are happen to be 2 different things. It's funny that you point out that Levin's POV is "biased" - obviously, everyone's point of view is biased but you're obviously trying to be clever by pointing out his bias as if that somehow discredits him. Anyway, the data shows that people in 2 parent households, even with both parents working have much higher rates of finishing high school, going to college, getting a job and not ending up on welfare or in jail. Again, I don't know what Mark Levin says about it, but those are the facts.

Also, there's no connection between violent video games and a propensity for violence or crime - although people that play a lot of video games could be lazy.

that could be because it's not nearly as good a predictor of good or bad outcomes as whether children are raised in two parent households, finish high school and wait to get married to have children.

Yeah. And hard rock was pushing me to worship Satan while rap music was pushing others to a life of gang banging.

Bullshit.

really? as young, impressionable man, when I first was listening to Ozzie Osbourne, Metallica, Motley Crue, etc I felt an overwhelming urge to worship the dark lord so I switched to the Beastie Boys, Erik B and Rakim, Boogie Down Productions, Ice Tee and Kool Moe Dee and after a while I found I wanted so badly to start a gang. It's unclear though if that had more to do with watching Colors or listening to the music. Anyway, I started listening to both for a while thinking they would cancel each other out but I just ended up starting a violent street gang that also worshiped satan.

Throw in some George Micheal and Boy George and you could've had the trifecta.

P.S. If that's what you listened to when you were younger...

Apples and oranges.

Yeah...your  pal Spartanmack can claim that my .gif of beating a dead horse is trolling, but posting :lmao: gets *crickets*. It obviously depends upon whose posting PoV that it is coming from.

You're not seriously comparing listening to music, to interactive/immersive computer war gaming software, including online MMORPG?

These games tend to create the sociopath impression that human lives aren't valuable. Plus the fact that young people are increasingly using social media almost exclusively outside of school to communicate, and aren't developing the interpersonal skills necessary to function in many work environments.

Oh and just coincidentally, Trump held a related meeting yesterday about this very subject, but I don't believe that there could be any effective means of keeping these violent games out of the hands of underaged children.

interesting that you consistently talk about how dumb Trump and the GOP are yet on this particular topic on which there is no data to support your or Trump's position, suddenly he's the voice of reason.
