Is there any chance this kid pulls his head out of his ass and gets his first win today? In three starts (12.2 IP) he has given up 17 hits, 4 BB, 8K, 1.66 WHIP and an era of 8.53

A kid who got called up never having pitched above AA his first time up, and only 3 games at AAA his third time up and people expected him to be awesome?

I'm not sure it's Turner who has his head up his ass.

I hope he dominates today!!!! I do hope he holds runners on better.. That will be one of the tings I look for.

If Smyly can have a sub 4 era as a rookie I think we can say Turner (who is supposed to be a top of the rotation talent) has had his head up his ass given his production at the MLB level so far.

Maybe he thought the pros were like high school and he could dominate them.. I guess some guys develop different then others and we all hope JT can pitch well... Don't blame any of us for picking him that was a DD and his scouts.. But i am sure other teams wanted him also..

I hope so too.....I also hope the bats wake up today!

Smyly made the team out of spring training though, and is also 2 years older (read: 2 years more developed) than Turner.

My original statement stands.

There is a really good chance that the next couple starts for Turner are basically called "Show Me" starts before the July trade deadline. The club right now is in that win now at whatever cost and given the start to this year there is a really high probability that Turner will be moved.

Honestly given his previous struggles in his call up starts and the fact NORMALLY you would rather want your young higher end prospects gaining confidence instead of risking them getting blown up you can almost be assured that this was teams basically wanting another audition so to speak.

He's in good company. Verlander's two spot starts in 2005 (at the time 2 years older than Turner was last year)...

11.1 IP, 15 hits, 5 BB, 7K, 1.76 WHIP, 7.15 ERA

Dipshit.

Drew has only 23 minor league starts and Tuner has had 54 minor league starts..

Drew had a longer college career at Arkansas and Drew is 23 and Jacob is 21 and drafted out of high school.. So i am not sure who is ahead of the other but Jacob has had more minor league starts...

Dude is barely 21. If we have this same discussion in 3 years I'll worry.

Oh I agree all I am trying to point out is JT has had more time with our coaches then Drew has. I thought JT showed a ton of improvement yesterday.. He held runners on and he was confident in his breaking stuff to throw it in tight spots. He did walk 5 but only gave up a run.. Plus we won the game...
