NATO was formed in 1949, mainly as opposition to the USSR, but nominally as a defense treaty against attacks on any members.

Every so often, for shits and giggles I guess, The USSR and later Russia has requested to become a member, but always gets rejected. Seems like if your alliance was defensive, you'd want more people to join it, but who knows what those nefarious Russians are planning! they can't be trusted!

We HAVE BEEN supporting Ukraine - with military aid since 2014 - and are spending billions (of our tax dollars) to buy more anti-tank missiles and what not, to send them. They dropped domestic aid for COVID issues (remember that?) from the budget to do that.

What more should we do? Go to war with Russia? Destroy the planet?

It wouldn't surprise me at all, i'm still disturbed by the amount of Russian support I see on GAB though, the guy running that site seems to be pro putin. IDK what to make of that. The world is strange. Likely some truth in some of it all and some lie and exaggeration. I don't really trust anything Putin or our own gumbit says. Overall my feeling is Putin is on track to lose this, deploying WW2 tactics in 2022 is not working out to well for him. Even if he eventually puts a bunch of puppets in he's still lost on the world stage. My main concern remains China, China/Iran/Russia all teaming up will NOT be good for the world at all and will ultimately push us all head long into end times.

Our government does some awful things, so we probably did start building bio-warfare/testing labs in Ukraine after we threw out Yanukovich and got a pro-American president in Kyiv.

Well... these days if you question our government in Ukraine, or the Ukrainian government, you're attacked as pro-Putin, or a Russian stooge, so it's hard to say. I'm sure there are some Russian stooges out there, and common sense tells you Putin wouldn't still be in power if he were that unpopular.

I'd just rather we dial down our aggressive foreign policy, since it's clearly leading us off a cliff. But it makes our arms industry a lot of money.

I guess I should just start buying LMT, RTX, NOC, etc. and keep my mouth shut.

What Republicans are pretending that ending COVID restrictions that didn't work is wrong? Can you name one person criticizing the administration for loosening restrictions? Other than those making the obvious point that the only reason Dems are reversing course is bc the Party's poll numbers are so low in an election year.

I'll speculate all those that had Delta or Onmi either won't get it at all or will be very mild and short lived.. Those that haven't had either and not vaccinated are probably most at risk
