rumseyhouse77 said:The guy is being prosecuted. Six months is not that bad, though I would hope that things would mover faster in these sorts of cases. How long was it before Sandusky was prosecuted? 10 years? And he was allowed to continue to associate with the school/program and given special treatment (sitting in the Penn State's Presidents box, access to the sidelines, etc.). The cases are no where near the same. I am confident that the policies will be changed at Michigan to clarify reporting proceedures, etc. in such cases in future.
the length of time before Sandusky was prosecuted has more to do with corruption; the police & AD sat on information because of who Sandusky was, and how much water Penn State football drew in that town.
but regarding this situation, I agree with you, and I don't think the same thing happened here AT ALL. Investigations take time. Branding someone with these charges will pretty much destroy their life; even if they are able to defend themselves and prove the allegations false, it's going to cost them thousands of dollars in legal fees, their job, possibly their friends and family too.
the armchair Nancy Graces on the internet and the ScottChicaHalls of the world might instinctively KNOW when someone is guilty and don't need to do things like examine evidence, interview witnesses, or hold a trial to weigh the evidence... but everyone else does, and that's called fairness and justice.
