Underachieving Tigers

Teams have off years, not much you can do. But underachieving worse in 5 years, not a chance. Just this year, Philly at .500. Arizona way off from last season. Miami spent big and suck and then there's Boston.

There are teams that are much worse off.

good point about phillies

a total lack of consistency from the bats outside of fielder, cabrera, and jackson are not of playoff caliber stuff..

according to fangraphs the tigers are by far last in production out of 2b and RF...bottom 3rd out of Left and DH and very much middling at SS and C.

If V-Mart comes back at 2011 form that will have a huge impact for the lineup imo. provided Jackson continues at his pace of course and Infante hangs around as an above average 2b.

The other factors clearly are the pen performing below expectations (AA's injury prob a big factor there) and Fister's injury early in the season literally guarenteeing a loss with whoever they threw out there.

If DF stays healthy all year and was able to pitch the way he is now that alone would have the Tigers up four games at this point imo.
