Weapon of Mass Destruction??? WTF?

So..uhh..who got punished by going to jail for the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion and sinking, 3 years ago, killing 11 workers and leaving oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico. From April 20th until July 15th, 2010, 200 million+ gallons of sticky, black crude oil spilled, affecting hundreds of miles of coastline and killing tens of thousands of marine life forms and animals.

Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of gallons of the toxic CorExit dispersant, that was injected directly into the gushing crude and methane gas mix, as well as being sprayed on the surface of the Gulf, effectively sweeping most of the mess "under the rug" by sinking it down to the floor of the GOM, where much of it remains to this day.

We knew they had biological weapons. The reason for going was nukes. And when bush said wmd, he was meaning nukes

We knew Saddam didn't have a nuke. The thought was that he was trying to obtain one. As I recall the WMD's were chem and bio weapons, and the components for nukes.

One of the first things that crossed my mind when they captured the younger brother Dzhokhar alive and announced that he had been seriously wounded and being taken to the same hospital as some of his victims and his dead older brother, was that the staff would need to try to save his life, and if successful, would also then try to nurse him back to health, regardless of their personal feelings toward him and the horrific and murderous acts that he had committed. However, there have been many mass-murderers and serial killers/rapists who have also required and received treatment for wounds and injuries as a direct or indirect result of being captured and arrested.

Doctors Still Have to Treat Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

The premise of showing mercy to those who have done great harm by those who are or will be directly or indirectly responsible fortheir protection, safety, and very survival was vividly put to the test in the award-winning movie Se7en. Although it was pure fiction, there must have been cases IRL when EMTs, police, detectives, ER nurses, ect...where they had to decide on whether or not to render aid or assistance to criminals whose heinious acts were known by them. Same goes for public defenders, when they are asked to represent indigent murderers, chimos, and rapists, for example, and they know that those that they represent are as guilty as sin.

There's this new guy on CNN, at least I don't recognize him, but when I'm listening to him talk and I'm not looking at the screen, he sounds to me just like Joe Biden.

Man if you have enough time to listen to biden to the point you recognize his voice then your wife needs to preoccupy your time more. ;)

yeah... its amazing how many people think allowing a guy to die in custody, or be tortured - even to death, is perfectly reasonable, dont understand why we need such things as trials, or criminal procedures, yet consider themselves "civilized."

shocking how much ignorance abounds. being convicted by the media is apparently good enough for a lot of americans.

Relative to most people, I'm bad with faces but good with voices. I bet a lot of Glee Clubbers pick out voices. Wouldn't surprise me to hear that Tinsel picks up voices quickly.

Civics. I wonder if they're taught better by groups and generations of teachers that remember why they're important.

civics is often one of the first things cut.

coupla years ago, there was a very revealing statement from some state rep in NC (your state!) that they were happy with it, cause they'd rather kids not know too much about how their government works.

"Civil rights? I have civil rights? What are those?"

Champ, I'm all for due process but you have to admit the evidence is pretty overwhelming even if solely looking at the MIT cop's death onward and remove the bombing. The video and physical evidence from that links directly to the bombings, making a Not Guilty verdict very unlikely.

I'm not using MSM info on this, but the police info. There's a few bullets and forensics that link it together pretty tightly even without video evidence to back it up.

Only play he has is claiming he was completely brainwashed by his brother, the Patty Hearst defense if you will. Still, he will need to make his story so compelling as to not have someone outside the law kill him.

His chances are not zero, but pretty darn close to it.

okay. not even arguing that point. theres pretty damning evidence against him, and even without the bombing, armed robbery, carjacking, aggravated assault, etc are enough to put him away for a long time. still have to respect his const. rights though. its what sets us apart from the savages.

Absolutely. Especially with how creative defense attorneys can be, there is a chance he can get a reduced sentence and not spend his entire life behind bars, not to mention getting parole for good behavior and demonstrating a "change in behavior". He deserves to have his day in court for those opportunities alone.

We kill our own in the womb. We are savages because of that.

I think he's done. He's 19, and mentally competent, so there aren't any mitigating circumstances in his character. in the eyes of the law, he should have known better, and can be held fully accountable for everything he did. The best he can argue is that he did these things under duress (i.e. his brother threatened him), but then there's the question of the intervening time when they were just hanging around Boston, not doing anything, so that really wouldn't excuse the later murder of the police officer, the shootout with police, carjacking, fleeing and evading, and whatever else they can charge him with.

if he doesn't get life, he's going away for a long time. unless he single-handedly stops a prison riot or turns informant, I don't see him getting paroled early. no one will forget this anytime soon.

he doesn't have much going for him; neither of them did. read the chain of events that lead to them getting caught. both of them were dumb as rocks.

I'm always hearing commercials with voice overs and thinking "Oh...that's Julia Roberts...that's Jeff Bridges...that's David Duchovny...that's Matt Damon...."

Look it up on line and it turns out to be right.

I am a little surprised, however, that I didn't know who the guy on CNN was; the one who sounded to me like Biden when I wasn't looking at him.

Chris Cuomo - brother of the current Governor, and son of the former Governor of New York.

I don't recall ever seeing him on TV or hearing of him before.

And when I checked out his bio, I saw that he's been in broadcast news for quite some time.
