Well May should be an easier month and hopefully warmer

This was one of the posts in the game thread in last night game. First things first, this is not the only poster that says warmer weather and our hitters will hit.

But I have to ask some questions about this kind of thinking.
1 How come Seattle was able to get 15 hits in the same weather that the Tigers batters were playing in?
2 The Tigers hitters can not hit in this April weather. What makes anyone think they will hit in October when it's cooler in the night games which will be on the tube?
3 Do the Tigers play in a different game, ballpark, than these teams that out hit them.

Now this one is really going to take some thinking. Next month is easier! How much easier do you need it,as the Tigers are playing a team right now, that just about everone around are saying Seattle will finish no better than 3rd in there Division.

Schedule really is not everthing you beat the team your playing today! That how Division winners win there Division!

Bottom line the Tigers have thrown 3 games away so far! But to blame it on the weather or the schedule is just nonsense. As the weather has the same effect on the other team as it does the Tigers. Schedule = good teams beat bad teams and great teams beat good teams. Once in a while a bad team finds an accorn.

Yeah Texas has as many or more Latino players then we do and they have no problem in cold weather.... it has to be the Inge factor... 5-6 since he was brought of the DL...LOL

I posted that.

May is a much easier schedule, with the exception of OAK, PIT, and BOS everyone is a division opponent, and they are all poor teams.

As far as warmer weather, I meant nothing about the hitting, and actually more about the pitching (It's hard to grip curveballs and sliders when it's cold) and the fact that muscles tighten up in cold weather (see Fister, Dirks, Boesch).

It may help the hitting and it may not, but that's not what I meant by sayign warm weather would help.

I don't know how much of it you blame on the weather. I just think it's the make-up of our team. We have a great Softball line-up but as for MLB, when the big boys aren't mashing it becomes very average. I wouldn't worry too much because it's just a matter of time until Fielder and Boesch start mashing. If and when we get V-Mart back...watch out. We are really missing his bat right now, obviously. Besides the high avg. and clutch hitting, he was one of few guys that made pitchers work. In the meantime, I'd like to see Boesch hit 5th but then I have no idea who would bat 2nd.

Thank you for your response. Did not point you out by name B/C really you are not the only one to post this weather thing. You make a good point about the about the difference of hitting and pitching in cool weather, and I will say there times I myself find it harder to do things in cooler weather. But yea you are right about pitcher's grips. And really size of hand effects the grip of the ball. as well as the hieght of a pitcher B/C of the release point.

Something else on the hitting side. Some players mite be useing a different batting glove in cooler weather and this could have an affect? Really thoe you would think someone ( batting coach) would have notice this!.

The Tigers are on pace for 95 wins, what a horrible start!!!

I think the expectations are so high that people are being more critical than a usual year.

Lack of plate discipline is something this the Tigers seem to excell in! Really I do mine swinging at the first pitch. It's swinging at the second ball one pitch after missing the first one that kills them some of the time. Taking strike one is no reason to swing at ball one as well. There times I do wonder what thier thinking is at the plate. Like last night game withthat 7 pitch inning when behind. You got to take some pitches IMO.

As to where to bat Boesch, yea who do you put in the 2 spot then. For that matter Move Jackson to the 9 spot and who then leads off!?. This has been a problem for the Tigers for some time now. And I do not see any real fixes now or the forseeable future. Raburn has at times done a good job at leadoff, but right now wow that would take some major big ones IMO at this point. But really what else is there?

Too be quite honest I had them going 4-8 or 6-6 in there first 12 games. So IMO they are ahead of where I had them. Yea winning those 3 Bosox games has had an addded high expectation.

I don't think so. Record is overrated. Most of us are just a but perturbed because of their recent play. And the inept offense. The offense was rolling in one series this season, the rest of the season it was bad. It is okay for us to act this way..

I mean Jackson is like 2 for his last 23... First 6 games he was hotter then the sun. Both Fielder and Miguel were 2 for 4 last night with only 1 rbi and that was a solo shot by Miguel... We need consistent obp production from the 1 and 2 spot to be really dangerous.. It has not happened this year yet..

I have been happy with Jackson leading off so far this year. He looks much more comfortable up there and has been taking some good pitches with 2 strikes. I would love for the Tigers to acquire a slap-hitting 2B who may not hit.300 but will not strike out alot and post a respectable obp. I know they don't grow on trees but I just think that would solidify this line-up, assuming Ajax continues to have quality ABs at the lead-off.

You keep on bringing up Miguel and bases empty but when AJ was getting on base, Miguel was struggling for a big 0-fer. AJ doesn't deserve any blame.

There even another small problem of the OBP production. Jackson has 3 Homeruns, and Boesch has 2 Homeruns, so that takes some of there OBP's away from Cabrera and Fielder chances of RBI's

Well 2 for his last 23 disagree with you.. It is a collective effort for sure but he looks like last year his last few games to me... First 6 games he was stellar...

Yeah, well where was Miguel when AJ was getting 3 hits a game? He was putting up a bunch of donut holes..Put some blame on him.

Tigers have traded or let go Polanco, Sizemore and Rhymes. I has to think what are they thinking?

I guess you missed this... .

"It is a collective effort for sure"

Face it Jackson's lifetime obp should not be leading off. I hope he has a wonderful year but .333 is not good enough..

That's fine but don't mention AJ's 2-23 without mentioning Miguel's 0-23.

Polanco wanted too much, Sizemore is out for the year so he's thinking fk and Grimes blows.

And we got _ _ _ _, _ _ _ _ _ _, Santiago, and Worth? I'm sure you can fill in the blanks. I even put spaces in betweem the letters for you so you can count them.
