Victor Cruz has already started talking about wanting a new deal. He said that he has looked around the league at what the top WR's are getting paid then he looked at what he did this year and he believes he deserves a raise.

I will never fault a guy for getting what he can and I doubt he makes much seeing he was undrafted but you see this a lot where a guy has one good year gets paid and disappears

Exactly. I don't care how good you are, play out the damn contract. If you want more money, be better in college.

crying and holding out works....see...welp....see basically everyone that does it.

He better take his ass to Telemundo. They will worship him like a god for the rest of his days.

Does that mean you don't agree with teams cutting players to save money? They should honor their contracts as well...right?

+1 He's not getting paid enough. If he was getting paid too much, would the Giants hesitate to cut him? He's allowed to ask for more money. Nothing wrong with that.

Not my point but I get yours. Players know they can get cut which is why they work for a bonus and shit like that. But an un-drafted player bitch too much. So they had one good year, yippee. Don't be lazy in school and get drafted higher and make more money.

After the Forte fiasco this year no player is ever going to respect his contract or the team again. Forte did the right thing by not holding out the Bears refused to give him a new contract and then he gets hurt and that hurts his FA rating. Kinda messed up. But Cruz needs more then one good year.

Who said he was lazy in school? Maybe he played with a shitty QB who couldn't get him the ball. Maybe he played in an offense that didn't properly utilize and showcase his talents. Or maybe NFL scouts simply did a bad job evaluating him.

Maybe. Couldn't he also been lazy too? "Sir, I did a good job as a bus boy the past 6 months, I want to be paid like a manager".

I dont think it should matter what he did in college. I mean didnt Arian Foster deserve a new deal after what he did in the league even though he wasnt drafted. Or how about Tom Brady, didnt he out play his rookie 6th round draft pick contract.I think the Giants should tell him if he plays like this next year then they can negotiate an extension during the year. But for one decent year its preposterous to think he is 1. elite or 2. deserving of elite receivers money.

When you make this points don't you think the Bears are thinking "I'm glad we didn't give him a new contract"? And other teams will be careful on shit like that? One year, he gets hurt in 2012, NYG fk'd.

Brady Anderson. Anyone remember that name? Played for the O's, HR total of 21 13 12 16 and then bam 50, new contract and then 18 18 24 19 8. You have to be careful about one year.

Yea but look at Chris Johnson held out into the season got his new deal but was out of shape for the season. Either way its a dick move in one case scenario the team is an asshole and the other both are at fault. Im against holding out but i also think if people out perform their contract they deserve to get what they earn. Its a tricky situation.

I sort of agree but IMO he or anyone needs to show them more than one year.

Chris Johnson thing was partly the Titans fault. That guy was severly underpaid, and they put off his contract longer and longer till it hurt their season. If Johnson is signed weeks earlier he is ready for the season and that team makes the playoffs.

Can't blame them though. I know he did well but with the short life and the chance at injury to just pay a young RB the top money in football? Every team will do what the Titans did. There are certain players you can't afford to do that with, mostly QB's. But a RB or WR, that's an easy decision for teams.

What? That analogy makes no sense. A better one might be "Sir, I've been the manager for 6 months but you've been paying me like a bus boy. I'd like to get paid like a manager."

He's been playing like an elite receiver, so he wants to get paid like one.

Decent year? What? He was unbelievable.

Tom Brady DID NOT play out his rookie deal. He won the Super Bowl in his second season, and the Patriots immediately gave him a huge raise.

He won't get paid like Fitz or CJ, but he certainly deserves more than players like Santonio Holmes, Steve Johnson, ect.

WRs last much longer in the NFL than RBs, and elite ones are harder to find. WRs are MUCH more valuable than RBs in today's NFL. Cruz will get paid.
