Get StartedI think I'd rather run a drill press than be a beat reporter for any sports organization, unless I had Carte Blanche to write whatever I wanted. And ask whatever I wanted.
"Shea, what have you done specifically to improve your ball security?"
"Shea, why did you not see the open space in front of you last week?
"Shea, on a scale of one to 10, how comfortable are you running this new offense?"
"Will Runyan make a difference?" Even Angelique is a robot at these sessions, which are less engaging than a middle-school film about sedimentary rocks.
Sports media in general is either ridiculous speculation and conjecture based on getting attention or bland team PR.
Which is why Bill Belichick is a national treasure. He treats dumbass press conferences with all the respect they deserve.
Here in CLT radio it was "Cam MVP?" and "Panthers: Super Bowl?" in the preseason, and now its "Cam won't run the ball" and "should Rivera be fired along with Herney (sp)," and should Allen or Grier be the backup," and, "the OL stinks," and "McCaffery is getting too many reps," and "we need to ride McCaffery until he drops," and, "if the Cowboys and Patriots are in the Super Bowl, I'll drink Drano ?" You know: very reasoned and informed discourse.
Like on here.
They might have been the only people on Earth suggesting the Panthers in the Super Bowl.
I about drove off the road. But everything was predicated on "if Cam stays healthy" ?
I mean, the statement probably should have been "If Cam stays healthy, we could go 9-7 this year!".
That was my "prediction" all along. 9-7. The radio guys I refer to are good guys, just a little "homer-y". If you see EP3 of All or Nothing on the Carolina Panthers, they are at the beginning of that EP.
Got it.
Different view than the radio guys for the Pats. For being local guys, they REALLY seem to hate the Pats and want them to fail. I'm sure it's all to stir up the fans and try to get more listeners. Basically the Skip Bayless approach.
Stopped listening to that nonsense years ago. I see comments on my Pats board that show nothing has changed with the local guys.
Shea ?lettin? it loose? is what the problem has been!
No! Stop lettin? it loose!
Secure the damn football!
