I dont know about you but the past few weeks I have heard a lot about quadrant one wins and I had no idea what they were talking about. It is the new system they are using to help select the tournament field. They will still be using the old metric but they are going to me more reliant on the Quadrant wein formula. I was wondering what it was so I looked it up and here is a brief explanation

a Quadrant 1 win is a win at home vs a team in the top 30. Or a win at a neutral site in the top 50 or a win on the road in the top 75

Quadrant 2: Home 31-75; Neutral 51-100; Away 76-135
Quadrant 3: Home 76-160; Neutral 101-200; Away 136-240
Quadrant 4: Home 161-plus; Neutral 201-plus; Away 241-plus

So under the new system you get more points in their system for scheduling road games and testing your team then just playing all home games and winning

But you have to win though, right? Home win is still better than a road loss vs a #1 seed.

It's a stupid system that relies way too heavily on RPI rankings.

I don't know.

At least it allows Cromagnum play by play announcers sound like astro physicists when they're talking about it during the course of a game broadcast.

It is rather stupid but it is what they seem to be using. By using this equation we get as much credit for winning @PSU then we do for beating OSU at home.

It's generally harder to win on the road.
