What the hell is going on?!

Dockett is a 49er. Pay attention.

His point was, they never even tried to have a discussion with Dockett.

And to that point, Dockett zero'd in on the 49'ers from jump, and by all reports never talked to anyone else. He knew where he wanted to go, and they wanted him. The Lions were busy dealing with players they felt they had a chance to sign.

Even if they thought they were getting suh back....why aren't they atleast talking to guys like docket that was free to sign with anyone. Is bringing a guy in for a fucking visit too much for you?

This isn't a game of Madden....like Ink mentioned....it has to be mutual. Maybe they reached out to Dockett's people about having him visit.....maybe he declined. He could be so pissed at Arizona he told his agent he wanted to stay in the NFC West so he got to play them 2X a year.....and SF was his first choice. Who knows?

You'll find any way to rip Mayhew....we all get it....but a massive chunk of your non stop whining is pathetically unfounded. Troll on.....

This is generally why I avoid blaming the front office for a lack of reports. Just because nothing is reported doesn't mean the Lions haven't contacted anyone. We know how secretive this front office has been since taking over. I would like to blame Mayhew for a lot, but I won't rip him because there are no reports yet of players linked to the Lions.

Agreed. Just seems like a thread that is a bit premature. Free agency hasn't even officially started yet. Good players still out there.

I'll reserve judgement on Mayhews off season until it actually ends. It's like complaining about not winning a game yet......before the season even starts.

Now, if we get a bunch of scrubs.....I'll firmly be on the "what the hell is going on" bandwagon.

The Lions have done nothing. They don't even have rumors. I don't think this thread is too early at all. Many of us, including the OP, aren't judging them. We're just asking, "What the hell is going on?" It's a legit question.

tell me you cant see mayhew getting a bunch of scrubs then going rb in rd 1. tell me that's totally out of his realm lol.....

Well within the realm of possibility.

Unfortunately.

remember like 3 years ago when we didn't sign or draft anyone and mayhews excuse was....."derrrr, I thought we were much further along than we turned out to be." by week2 we were starting don frikken carey lmao....

Welp, we now have an idea of what the hell is going on. :)

Good start. 31 and coming of MCL and Juice is scary along with a $16M cap hit - but only 8M salary. He also is a FA after this year. But hey in reality we replaced Suh with a top five DT even at this stage of his career. He has always been a 3-4 nose though, is this the 3-4 signal we've been looking for?

7.5 of the 16 is dead money to Baltimore. (Sorry to repeat, didn't realize I answered the same person twice in separate threads)

It better be. It would be stupid to trade for a 3-4 NT if you are going to run a 4-3

I thought he played predominantly as a 3-4 DE last season.

PFF had him rated as their #9 3-4 DE for 2014.

Technically you could still play him at the 1 with your other DT at the 3. But It may be a full switch or hybrid. I loved the weird blitz schemes Austin drew up in the playoffs. The hybrid would play into that.

He weights 340. That is a serious DE. He's always played inside as far as I remember.

Let's say they go 3-4 and then Austin leaves it limits who we can bring in..

I was pretty sure he was a NT until PFF said they had him rated as a DE.

Totally threw me. I don't watch a lot of Ravens, so I figured I missed something. I still have no idea now.

I know he played a little DE in his early career but I always notice him in the middle.
