Where QB tiers were right, wrong

Or just don't draft a luxury pick that you don't need in the 1st round. They could have sneezed all over themselves and still ended up with a pro bowler with how good that first round draft class shook out, but only the Lions would screw it up.

You don't know if it's a screw up yet. Beckham, Donald and Martin could suck this year and Ebron could be awesome. Or they could all be awesome and then it doesn't matter. Year 2 TE. Time to shine.

Doesn't matter even if Ebron turns out to be a "good" TE. So many better options out there. Keep piling up those weapons. Never enough.

Ebron could turn out to be a better option than all those guys. Donald, OBJ and Martin could suck this year.

2013 we had old Burleson, slow Pettigrew and Durham. We needed two weapons. Got Tate and Ebron.

Sure they could. It's also just as likely that Ebron just doesn't get it and busts out of the league.

I do, because if they ever want to get over the top, those picks need to do something. 11 regular season wins doesn't mean anything. In five years, are we going to be looking back to the glory year of winning 11 games in the season? Who cares. Win a playoff game.

We can get over the top even without Ebron. But realistically he'll probably be better. 500 yards from him could get us over the top. Waddle/Warford healthy can get us over the top. Swanson instead of Raiola could get us over the top. Tulloch back if they don't cut him gets us over the top. New drafted left guard could get us over the top. Bentley/Lawson healthy could get us over the top. Fauria healthy for more redzone TDs could get us over the top.

They won a playoff game as far as I'm concerned too.

You don't listen very well then. Pay attention....they wanted the TE because they were trying to mimic the Saints offense. Did they drop the ball? Experts like yourself are already writing off EE. That's fine, it's expected from someone who doesn't know football very well. Me? I'll hold off on calling him a bust just yet.

It is never enough actually. Look at the fkn Packers for fuck sakes. They draft weapons for Rodgers every year. The NFL is a revolving door of talent. You can never have enough of it.

You're probably going to cry when they draft Gurley in the 1st rd too, right?? Of course you are..

Tell you what Tony, when Stafford starts winning playoff games and a Super Bowl like Rodgers, it'll be okay that they draft 400 weapons for him, because the end result will be there.

Until then, continue to cover up for him and try and justify the fact that he just doesn't make people around him better.

Tate had his best year under Stafford and Calvin had his best years under Stafford. Pettigrew had a few 700 yard years for being super slow and Burleson when healthy looked decent.

Durham and Jeremy Ross are just lost causes. Young went insane. Broyles got hurt twice. Fuller and Ebron can still develop.

Actually, Tate had better years in 2012 & 2013. He only had more yards because he was targeted more often.

2012 15.3 YPC, 10.3% of his targets were TDs
2013 14.0 YPC, 5.1% of his targets were TDs
2014 13.4 YPC, 2.8% of his targets were TDs

More targets lowers the YPC typically. And Tate had his best completion % in 2014. Fact. And best YAC in 2014 (great job for Stafford to lead him). Fact. Tate still had 4 TDs. Tate got open more, got more targets this year. Best year. 5 TDs and 7 TDs in 2013 and 2012. Calvin is the redzone guy. Fauria when healthy.

Given the comp % and YAC difference and a QB actually able to find Tate, lead him for YAC and give him better comp% unlike Russel Wilson.

Tate's best year was 2014. Yardage, YAC, comp %, ability to get open and get more targets. 2014.

And he was used little more as a deep threat in Seattle. That alters the YPC too.

Pettigrew has turned to shit....fixed.

He was underused in the passing game. Stafford made it work with him in 2011-2013.

Stafford made Burleson work too. Burleson getting hurt isn't Stafford's fault.

Great season with Tate. Calvin's best seasons with Stafford.

Stafford makes guys better. Just not the guys who have no hope like Durham and Ross.

Wilson out there taking guys like Chris Matthews who was working for a shoe store a couple months prior and Ricardo Lockette to the Super Bowl and making them viable options, Stafford gets pro bowlers and can't win a playoff game.

Wilson only had like 3,200 yards. Baldwin isn't bad. Solid TE. And Wilson has it easy with a run game to help him. Wilson doesn't need to do jack with that defense and run game.

so we surround him with more weapons and all he does is throw to 2 guys the entire season....smart. good job Caldwell, Lombardi, Stafford!

It worked. Calvin and Tate did great. He threw to Ebron. Ebron wasn't always healthy and is a rookie. Not a full weapon yet. He threw to Fuller. He threw to Pettigrew when Ebron was hurt. He threw to Bell and Bush.

the problem is Fuller and Ebron need to develop, Ross sucks and Fauria hurt and also Stafford was under fire almost all season.

Stafford threw to his good weapons and RBs. Good job Stafford, Caldwell, Lombardi and Mayhew.

Now Ebron and Fuller develop. Top 5 offense.
