August 19, 1921: At the age of 34, Ty Cobb becomes the youngest player to collect 3000 hits when he singles off Red Sox hurler Elmer Myers in a 10 - 0 Tigers win. It takes Cobb just 2,135 games to do that.

Ty Cobb was able to talk to Walter Johnson and learn that he was a super nice guy.He used this knowledge to stand right on top of home plate when they faced each other, knowing that Johnson was far to gentle of a man to throw hard and inside on him to back him off the plate.
