i checked fangraphs, he was 2nd in WAR that year to Grady Sizemore. his defense and baserunning helped that, but since when did voters consider defense in MVP voting?

Don't really matter.... he's not winning the award, or finishing in the Top-3.

A few very good ballplayers are either media darlings or fan darlings.... or both. Dustin fits that "both" bill.

I stopped watching all of them as well except for Kurkjian. for me, he is unbiased and objective in most all his baseball analysis.

I think WAR can be a valuable tool, but to use it as the sole justification for the MVP is a travesty.

Grandy is the front runner with JV and Bautista chasing. Boston has Agon, Ellsbury and Pedroia splitting votes. With a strong finish, Cabby could finish top 3.

I listen to ESPN radio all day long while working. I have never heard a single analyst mention Pedroia for MVP. Verlander is the name mentioned most often as a debate point. Most mention Granderson and A Gon as the lead contenders.

Look at Granderson compared to Miggy. Higher avg, obp, and smokes him by .50 points in OPS. A CF should probably get a little props because hes playing a position but he hasnt had a near GG. Outside of Detroit no one talks about Cabby but he deserves it more than Grandy.

Now Gonzo and steroid boy Bautista are legitmate contenders.
