Why not this!

So you project Porcello SP and Smyly the 6th- and 7th-inning guy?

No, I didn't say that. Sanchez was brought in to replace Porcello basically. What I don't think Leyland would do is 2 starts for one guy, 3 starts for the other, back and forth. That's all..

Not trying to infer or assume, just asking. But there will be a 5th starter, correct?

From what I understand, Smyly. I'm okay with him staying, Porcello. Just disagree with Spock about using both as a number 5. On and off..

If only Smyly would turn into Carl Hubble or even Mickey Lolich... Man would that be nice or what...

The further we get into spring training the more I think they should let Porcello have the #5 spot and either put Smyly in the pen or send him to Toledo. If they continue to pitch well during the first 1/2 of the season the Tigers would have some great trade options toeards the deadline.

New idea in from ESPN board

Porcello will go first 5 innings Smyly will go next 4 innings?!&@ too. Idea this will help bullpen and closer as well?

Requesting source. who knows what the answer will be?

One of the worst ideas ever.

Even if it was a "good" idea, Leyland wouldn't ever act on the advice of a few anonymous baseball loving-Tigers fanboys posting replies on an internet messageboard regardless. He doesn't even have much if any respect for the beat reporters who get opportunities to ask him postgame questions. Pretty obvious when Smokes talks w/a mouthful of food while spraying bits of lunchmeat and breadcrumbs all around while in front of the TV cameras...lol!!

Why would he listen to those people. The dude's gotta eat.

Wait, what? I dont remember sayin that. I havent even posted in this thread yet lol

They might need them both anyway after seeing what Fister is bringing this year. Things never go according to plan when it involves a 162-game baseball season

Fister? The dude's a solid number 2. He's not getting replaced, not because of a bad spring.

It's Spring Training.

And ST numbers don't mean jack shit.

for some reason I thought he had some injuries in Seattle too. It looks like he was good in 2011 but only pitched 171 innings in 2010

28 starts though. Someone that didn't come up until late the year before, it was pretty good. 6 starters is a nice safety net but hopefully we don't have the injuries but Fister has been solid with regards to the injury.
