world series

Glad it went against boston.

It was the right call. Intentional or not it's obstruction, the fielder hinders the runners ability to advance.
Rule 7.06 of the MLB Rulebook. Obstruction 101. http://www.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/runner_7.jsp …”

They are messing with these webvideos. But in the cardinals game story, the webvideo in the story link should play.

Interesting...from MLB Network. This is part of Rule 2.00. They give an example of what would count as obstruction.

"For example: an infielder dives at a ground ball and the ball passes him and he continues to lie on the ground and he delays the progress of the runner, he very likely has obstructed the runner."

Absolutly the right call and more Boston whine Soxs after the game. Lol poor Boston, would say tough break feel bad for ya, but...I don't...in fact lose again tommorrow and the next day would be splendid

Every game in this series has had huge errors that lead to each team's defeat. The Sox remind me of the Tigers in 2006 with our throwing errors. The Sox can't throw the ball to 3rd base.

One of the craziest endings ever. That might be the best Game 3 in WS history. The Dekinger game came to mind as did Buckner. Babe Ruth once got caught stealing to end a World Series. That might top last night. What was Babe thinking???

I am never surprised at the abject ignorance of the rules expressed by MLB players and managers. Here's the most complex part: Demuth had to make an additional judgment call: that the obstruction was the reason why the runner was out. Delayed dead ball obstruction in an of itself is not an automatic call. The umpire has to consider the play at hand. This was an easy call to make, but not all are. Say that the runner stumbles again, independent of the obstruction. It's now null. Say the runner stops to complain about the obstruction, even for a fraction of a second: null again. Say the runner thinks he's safe by a wide margin and slows down ... that also voids the obstruction, as does if for any reason the umpire judges that the obstruction would not have altered the final outcome. Listening to the Middlebrooks complain is sad, actually, because chances are had he simply laid there and the runner stepped over him, there would have been no obstruction.

True, but without the obstruction he would have likely beaten the ball to home plate by 5 steps.

I'm reminded of the Fielder play from game 6, where Boagerts clearly made an attempt to get out of Prince's way on the rundown so he could not be called safe on interference, even though Prince was trying to sell that Xander tripped him up. So the Red Sox were obviously aware of potential interference. They are going about an attempt as saving face poorly.

I just turned it to the game to check the score and got ill looking at Boston playing the Cardinals...Apparently I am not over it..

Anyone thinking rule "review" has nothing to do with the power and influence of the Boston Red Sox at MLB, think again. #JustAsEvilEmpire
Howard Bryant

Farrell got burned in Game 3. He seemed to forget he was in a NL park.
