Wright Deal Coming?

Schwartz has praised a few guys in the media that make you shake your head and say "WTF".....but when you are the HC I guess you have to be politcally correct....

Berry and Wright are both trash...IMO I am hoping for Chris Houston . a 1st round pick on the other side and Alphonso in the nickel in 2012.

Cool dude. I'll put more stock into scouting reports by people who analyze film than Lions message board "experts" lol.

"Aaron was playing at a really, really high level when he got hurt," coach Jim Schwartz said.

But you should definitely be the coach cuz you know so much more than Schwartz.

What's he going to say? Do you think he's going to rip him in an interview? Don't forget the only reason he saw the playing time he did was because of injuries ahead of him. Even with a team full of outcast corners he should have only been in the dime package. You must have thought Follet was a stud too huh? Shwartz praised him for his high level of play before injuries. lol
He started the year as a #3. And that's where he belongs. And Schwartz praised Follet for special teams lol. He doesn't need to praise everyone, and he doesn't. He talked about how Amari struggled, why not say the same about Berry? When did he talk about Alphonso playing at a high level? Schwartz just got done evaluating every single player on every single play last year. I'll trust his opinion.

And again, Pro Football Focus gave him a positive grade, actually higher than Houston. But you know more than them as well, my bad.

Since we have given Zack Follett the chance to compete for a starting spot, he has not disappointed us. We released him after a poor camp last year, but a light came on when we brought him back onto the practice squad. It got to the point where we wanted him on special teams, then we wanted to get him involved in def schemes & packages. It was all him. He's done a good job in the offseason program and he's continuing to improve.

Schwartz on Follet at LB

None of the DBs we have are elite. Berry and Wright are equally mediocre. When the dline got pressure we won games, when we didnt all of our CBs got burnt. We need to figure out how to consistently get pressure whether it be with the front four or a blitz.

He started the year as #3 because Alphonso broke his foot in the offseason. But you already knew that.. Schwartz and Gunther praised Follet as a lb multiple times. (See Slick's post)

Here's Shwartz on CB Alphonso Smith:
"Yeah, Alphonso made a couple really nice plays. He's always been a good player around the football. I think in these last 11 weeks, he missed a ton of time during training camp and really gave him a really good chance to sort of sit back and watch and see what parts of his game he needed to improve on. He's playing very good technique football now. He had some problems last year with guessing a little too much, but his interceptions came on playing good technique. I don't know how many interceptions we could have had today. We had probably about three or four of them that were in our hands that we were not able to come up with, but, again, when we were healthy, our secondary did a good job of making a bunch of plays."

If Profootballfocus.com gave Berry a positive grade we should sign him to a 5-6 year extension. Lock him up before the gm's around the league discover that website..

That stuff on alphonso is different. Its not a general praise the way he praisef berry, and he throws in criticism too. As for follet, id hardly call that praise. More like encouragement. Although gunther got carried away often lol.

Again, berry isnt a starter, but hes definitely worth a roster spot.

How about you let me know when Aaron Berry gets cut.

Berry wont get cut...he knows the system and is real cheap...he'll be the #4 or #5 CB.

#4 at worst, probably #3

If they keep Alphonso and resign Wright (same group as last year)he's #4, If they draft anyone in the first 4 rds and keep Wright and Carlton he's #4 or 5. If they bring in a free agent and keep Wright and Carlton he's #4 or 5. If they do all of these ( resign Wright, keep Carlton, draft a corner, pick up a vet corner ) he's selling insurance door to door. Hasta la bye bye, Senior Pinata.

Btw he better not go door to door in Detroit...

He was playing over smith all year until he got hurt, even after smith cane back. Let me know when smith climbs above him on the depth chart.

We just did i thought....

Berry is all hype. He gets a lot of talk for a guy who has done nothing.

He played a little bit over a guy who had foot surgery. He was rehabbing since the beginning of the offseason (about 6 months). What does that prove? Sure not what you're hinting at. In that little bit of time while getting back into the swing of things he still put together a better season than your boy.
